He said he didn't know in the 80s, but he does know now. Apparently something between then and now happened Gee, I wonder what), so he learned it was illegal. I still wonder if he thinks it is wrong. I share your disgust at this. It really is stunning. :eek:
 
One wonders how someone so criminally and willfully ignorant could rise to any position of authority anywhere. And that abstracts from the clear immorality of priests having sex with anyone in the Catholic Church. I think that ex-bishop is covering his ass.

Ya, he's clearly not willfully ignorant, since it's inconceivable that anyone in the 1980s could have been unaware that this was a crime. He's deliberately lying in order to try and reduce the liability of the Church for engaging in a criminal conspiracy.
 
And why not? People already believe him when he says some jewish carpenter created the universe.

I'm kind of curious who he DID go to.

I like the comment at the end, trying to spin it. He was aware that it was a SIN, just not that it was also illegal. Huh.
 
Well, it was the '80's. Anything went back then. He was probably smoking crack a the same time too, but didn't mention it because the ashtray wouldn't stay on the kids head while he was buggering him.
 
He might want to consider having his balls snipped now, in case he forgets again that having sex with children is not only illegal but evil.

Covering his ass with a single strand of hair. In his position I'd rather stay quiet than bare my ass to the whole world as he has.

For a man who has devoted his life to hearing confessions and giving moral guide in the administering of that sacrament, that must be the lamest excuse I've ever heard. Step aside, Bill Clinton.
