Golden State Warriors and Curry Make a Run at the NBA Win Record

In the last few months I caught wind that Golden State was on pace to beat the 96' Chicago Bulls win record of 72-10, and so started checking out their games. We're talking one of the best teams in NBA history, so a lot of fun to watch. In the last few games Vegas betting odds actually turned in Golden State's favour to beat the record, now that they're sitting at 52-5.

I've been reading fivethirtyeight articles on their run and all signs point to the major factor being Stephen Curry, who's, for the most part, the best 3-point shooter in NBA history:

Also, here's another vid from his 51 point game the other night:

And this is the major reason I watch sports, not to root for an arbitrary grouping of players, but to see players and teams crush records like this.

Being local in Lebron James territory, this Curry run is just depressing. The Cavs have the ingredients to win a title, but not against a team that needs their top player to be hot just for a single quarter. Golden State still needs to finish strong, but unless they take a dive near the end, they should likely have the record for best record in the NBA. It is incredible how well they are playing... and overshadowing San Antonio's great season!

An incredible season, whether they set the mark or not.

Indeed.

I can't see them not at least tying the Bull's record, though.

Two more games against the Spurs, but if John Nash has anything to say about it they'll at least split them. If they're healthy and don't slump at all 7 - 2 should be doable.

It's shocking how average the Cavs have been. I mean they will win the East. But they have no chance against either the warriors or the Spurs. Jimmy: do you remember me congratulating you two years ago when the Cavs traded for Kevin Love? I thought that for sure it would lead to several more championships for Lebron.

It's another reminder of how great that Chicago Bulls team was!

Sitting at 72-9 with a chance to take the record on Wednesday. Definitely clutch against the Spurs in the last few days.

Lots of fun following this story.

They did it. And Curry is the first player ever to sink 400 3-pt baskets. The guy is so hot he could sink your battleship in one shot!

Now it is time for the playoffs. The Finals get started a little early this year. A charity final between the Cavs and the Winner of the Western Conference will also be held after the Finals are completed between the Spurs and Warriors.

The Cavs have been so on/off all season. Their game is defense, but they need to stop Curry for 48 minutes. 36 minutes last year wasn't enough.

A guy I work with was saying the other day that the Warriors are going to play the Spurs in the finals.

I was really confused at the time. Now it makes sense.

Never watched the NBA playoffs before, but these ones feel weird. It felt like I had an incentive to watch the Warriors chase the win record, but now a Golden State championship just seems like a foregone conclusion.

I'm cheering on the band wagon for the Cavs, but unless the Cavs can shut down Curry, it is a foregone conclusion. Granted, the depleted Cavs did a great job against Golden State in the finals last year, but Golden State is just so good.

my Blazers gave them two good games and won one against Golden State.Curry is good, but Green base of this team!

My coworker thinks that GSW should not have played Curry against Portland. He may well have been right.

About that ...

Curry is apparently as cold as a witch's left elbow, and they're getting absolutely crushed. Are they that one-dimensional?

Their fans said they aren't. It is incredible that Golden State were so hot and now it will take a major comeback. It isn't like they are losing by 5 to 10 points. They are being handed their asses.

Huge game in Cleveland tonight.

They're a team without him, but with him much much better.

In their defense, they're under crushing pressure, and their opponents don't have anything to lose.

Speaking of crushing, Cavs up huge against Raptors at halftime.
