Although the Morning Joe co-host has alternated between praising and attacking Trump throughout his presidential campaign, on Wednesday he dropped a bombshell that makes it impossible to imagine him ever coming to Trump’s defense again.
According to Scarborough, a foreign policy expert who briefed Trump told him that the Republican nominee repeatedly asked him about our country’s reluctance to use nuclear weapons.
“Three times he asked about the use of nuclear weapons,” Scarborough said. “Three times he asked, at one point, ‘If we have them, why can’t we use them?’ That’s one of the reasons he doesn’t have foreign policy experts around.”

Well, he obviously only meant there could be uses for nukes...ya know like space mining.
 
I don't particularly trust the veracity of this claim. It could be true, as Trump is a mental lightweight, but "several months ago"? It has a fishy smell.

Now, to bring an asteroid back to Earth orbit to mine is quite another matter...

Pffft...why do you think space mining is Trump's forte? He isn't going to worry about the details of asteroid mining.
 
Hey, if Donald Trump decides that he's going to mine an asteroid, it's going to be the most spectacular asteroid mine you've ever seen. Seriously, it will just be great.

1) Exactly when did you find out about this information? You say in the clip that it happened several months ago — were you sitting on it for all this time? Did you just learn about it? This matters because this is the kind of anecdote that I would be screaming from the rooftops. We’re deciding the leader of the free world in November, and this kind of appalling ignorance is worth highlighting. Just dropping this bomb casually during a televised conversation seems odd.
2) Was this conversation with your source off the record? Your hesitancy in even discussing this information, and your statement that you need to be “careful,” suggest that something prevented you from just blurting out this super-scary anecdote. Was it because the conversation with the expert was off the record? Were you concerned about outing your source? I get it, like me, you’re not really a journalist. The thing is, you are doing and saying things in a journalistic capacity, so the rules do matter. Still, if you learned about this, did you do everything in your power to get your source to go on the record?
3) Who was the expert?! As Spoiler Alerts has frequently noted, Trump’s foreign policy team runs the gamut from incompetent to nonexistent. At the beginning of the clip, former CIA director Michael Hayden confirms that none of his peers is talking to Trump. So just who was the foreign policy expert who talked to him? Logically, the set of foreign policy experts who talk to both Trump and Scarborough can’t be that large, so I suspect that this information will be puzzled out pretty soon.

 
Whether it's true or not, this is a moment for Trump to get a taste of his own bullshit.

"Trump doesn't understand why we can't use nukes. That's what I've read... you know, that's what a lot of very, very smart people are saying."

Let that filthy little whisper campaign crawl up his ass and make him start answering questions about it. Then enough people will just start saying it's true. It's a fair exchange for the dozens and dozens of times he's used that shitball tactic.

I don't think that's a lot of credit. More like "I have the concentration span of a gnat, so it's unfair to let anyone else focus on anything."
