Europe moves to integrate its military

The people who believe that American influence over the world is a good thing will also deny the negative implications of this because they refuse to believe that they or Trump has anything wrong.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this sounds like a move to become less dependant on the USA for defense, which is good for Europe, bad for people who think America should have more influence over foreign countries.

Doesn't seem exactly like the 'military integration' touted in the headline.

Instead, it's "military funding, weapons development, and deployment of European defenses."

So, yes, one integrated EU budget and an integrated development of the hardware, but integration not of all EU-countries' armies into one big army but instead of their "deployment". I guess it means integration of operations, which I guess would require an integrated command structure, but not a permanent one. Instead, a specific one would be put in place for each operation. At least to begin with.

The main point perhaps is that each country would retain its own army, although probably somewhat reduced.

At least to begin with.

So if it's not total integration, it's not integration at all?

Most interesting. You're Christian, I take it?

A lot of integration has already happened through NATO - ammunition, fuel, and other key materiel is standardized to a handful of types across all NATO armed forces, so a German unit can be supplied from a Canadian supply depot with ease, for example. There's also plenty of command integration and cooperation via NATO. What's new here is really the idea of integrated command and control outside the NATO umbrella - allowing Europe to cut out the American elements of NATO, but retain the ability to act effectively and flexibly to threats. The UK has been the barrier to this for a long time, with their EU veto and insistence on the NATO model which puts the US in the box seat, keeping the Germans from being able to effectively wield significant military power without US and (they hope) British approval.

Brexit is damaging in a number of ways; The removal of this barrier to German military domination in Europe is one of these. I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

Once all the Germans were warlike, and mean,
But that couldn't happen again.
We taught them a lesson, in 1918,
And they've hardly bothered us since then.

???

It's integration of some aspects.

What's even difficult to understand?

Jesus!

You're Christian, I take it?

I'm not and never have been.

I'm not religious and never have been.

And, I'm quite definite it's not even difficult to guess from what I post here.

Good Lord, where have you been?!

I'll pray for your soul.

The rest seems like it's definitely lost.

Ah, this will definitely annoy, maybe pain, even perhaps distress many of the Germans who would read this. Sorry guys!

But it's also true many Germans have immigrated to the U.S. Think of the current President! And look at how peaceful this country is!

And, let's not forget, a large chunk of the population of France and Britain also have a German origin. And both countries have so peaceful a temperament, this is truly something to marvel at.

Underseer thinks you're a Republican Trump supporter, you see.

In other words yes.

Thanks for clearing that up.

So if we can only use the word "integrate" if it is complete and total, what would be the politically correct term I should have used?

And it was an honest question.

First, this is a common tactic of Christians. For example, of we cannot declare absolute morality, then morality cannot exist. If we cannot declare absolute truth (redundant, I know), then truth cannot exist.

Further, in the thread on the ontological argument, you tried to win an argument by calling me stupid and you refused to explain what it is you think I was getting wrong, another typical Christian tactic to avoid any real debate.

So if you're not a Christian, you certainly argue like one. Are you an ex-Christian, then?

Wow. And I thought the Germans were the ones who had no sense of humour.

And, based on my life-long personal experience, I don't see any good reason to change your view on this matter.

Still, keep in mind that you may be under this influence yourself. Maybe it's not just Trump.

What can I say? Really?

Apparently you don't understand my English:
You're Christian, I take it?

I'm not and never have been.

I'm not religious and never have been.

What would be the point of repeating what you didn't understand the first time?

What would be good in not ignoring your posts?

Bye-bye!
