Trump attacks protections for immigrants from ‘shithole’ countries

President Trump grew frustrated with lawmakers Thursday in the Oval Office when they discussed granting entry to immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries as part of a bipartisan immigration deal, according to several people briefed on the meeting.

“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Trump said, according to these people, referring to countries mentioned by the lawmakers.

Trump then suggested that the United States should instead bring more people from countries like Norway, whose prime minister he met with Wednesday. The president, according to a White House official, also suggested he would be open to more immigrants from Asian countries because he felt they help the United States economically.

In addition, the president singled out Haiti, telling lawmakers that immigrants from that country must be left out of any deal, these people said.

“Why do we need more Haitians?” Trump said, according to people familiar with the meeting. “Take them out.”

Why would people from Norway want to immigrate here? They have actual health care, and longer life expectancy.
 
They're on CNN talking about him being a racist.

Maybe he is; maybe he isn't, but him saying what he did could not be considered racist without an extraordinary contorted misinterpretation of the words he used. To me, the issue of whether he's a racist or not becomes immediately side-lined by the tremendously more curious issue of why people (in droves even) clamor to tag along with the convoluted disingenuous narrative that he's a racist given the ever-clear grasp that what he said cannot possibly be regarded as racist by anyone being sensible.
 
Well, Haiti is a shithole. Just ask the Dominicans.

That a place is a shithole is a reason not to go TO it, and a very good reason to come FROM it.

There is no particular reason why somebody coming from a shithole would be an undesirable immigrant; It shows that he has good judgment, in preferring your nation over his shithole; and is a compliment to your nation.

Unless you want your immigrants all to be people of poor judgment, who choose to move from nice places like Norway to shitholes like the USA.

Not surprisingly, we have no ambassador to Haiti. The US Chargé d’Affaires there is Robin Diallo, a holdover from previous administrations. I feel very sorry for her. Maybe they'll offer her asylum.
 
So what are the expectations here? Are democrats going to sell greencard lottery for something?
I have a feeling that they are planing to do that.

If people treat their own country like a trash can, why would we want them here? And why do they have to go the US. We're full. So many countries out there.

Nobody has to go the US. I wouldn't. But if people were treating my country like a trash can (to an even greater extent than the extent to which Americans treat their country in that way), perhaps I would change my mind.

People want to go to the US because they think that doing so will improve their family's lot - and generally they are right; Americans are lazy workshy fucks with deep pockets, so a hard worker can make something of himself there with few skills. Haitians are mostly skint, and those few who do have money are not planning to spend any more of it on staff wages.

The US (coincidentally) has roughly the same population density as the rest of the Earth's land area - If the USA is full, then so is the planet.

Fortunately, neither is.

Unfortunately, lots of racist fucks would like to use the lie that one or both are, as an excuse for their racism.
