Sure, Infinity War isn't out yet and it is hard to sell such praise for a film that hasn't been released. But you look at the poster and think, 'Holy cow, this is actually going to happen.' This many characters, a decent number of stars, something unseen in a Super Hero film before. This is almost like How the West Was Won it is so saturated with characters and big actors.

After seeing The Avengers, I felt that film was an absolute blockbuster, a work of art, to transition campy comic books into a viable and serious enough movie for grown adults. I think Whedon is not given enough credit for making such a story work. And since Avengers, the films (sans Ironman) have been getting better and better.

And with Infinity War, we are leaping to a new level from what the Avengers accomplished, going from merging a team to merging a franchise. Granted, I can't imagine how hard it is to merge some much into a single collaboration, but we'll find out. And if done well, where does it place itself among movie history.

We'll see, I suppose. I agree that the MCU is an enormous amount of chainsaws, and they manage to stay juggled.

I'd say that most movies featuring lots of big talent end up as flops.

But surely the greatest movie of all time has always been the 1965 blockbuster The Battle Of Britain?

I'm only joking a bit too. Check out the cast:

Where else do you have Laurence Olivier, Kenneth More, Michael Caine, Michael Redgrave, Ralph Richardson, Robert Shaw and so on?

And it's got spitfires!

I think that Justice League is the greatest movie of all time.

My response to any rebuttals of that is that you should go and fuck yourself because you're just a dim witted and biased DC hater. Also, your mother is a whore.

All of that is true except Justice League being great.

Infinity War will likely hold the top spot until Disney decides to combine the MCU, Star Wars, the Muppets and Disney princesses into a single franchise.

Well, they did the Princess thing with Once Upon a Time. They probably could add the Muppets too, but then it'd get too silly if you added Star Wars.

There is no such thing as "too silly" in Hollywood. There is only 'likely to make lots of money' and 'not likely to make lots of money'. Any other consideration is irrelevant to the decision about whether a film gets made.

Didn't Patton Oswalt do that?

I've looked and any list online that tries to say which movies had the best ensemble, apparently doesn't know films existed before the 1990s. The three to come to mind are Grand Hotel (17ish), Mad ... World (dozens), and How the West Was Won (24). The question is, is the star power larger in How the West Was Won than Mad Mad Mad Mad World. I'd say it was.

If we're offering cast lists, here's my favorite: Into the Night, the names just keep surprising you. There are some movie stars, of course, and most of the names I don't recognize, but I know enough to know this is a weird list.

Some names I do recognize from the cast list:

David Bowie, in my favorite performance.

John Landis got three people killed directing Twilight Zone: The Movie

David Cronenberg directed, for instance, A History of Violence and The Dead Zone.

Paul Mazurski directed Tempest, which I love, even if I'm the only one, plus, among others, Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice.

Jim Henson, Muppet man

Roger Vadim, Directed Barefoot in the Park and married Jane Fonda.

Lawrence Kasdan wrote and produced The Big Chill

Richard Farnsworth. Okay, this one is an actual actor, but I mention him anyway.

Just saw Infinity Wars this weekend. This is exactly what they did.

Hey, watch the spoilers!

I suppose next you're going to tell everyone what happens to Miss Piggy on Titan.

Clearly the greatest movie of all time is Freddie got fingered.

everyone dies in the end and it was the butler that did it, in the library, with the candlestick.

TOTAL SPOILER BELOW!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT UNHIDE ULESS YOU HAVE SEEN OR WILL NEVER SEE THE MOVIE!!!!! (or don't care).

No really... just about everyone dies. Exactly half of all life in the universe. The movie ends with the audience going, "WHAAAAAAAT? NO WAY!!!!". And "infinity wars" more accurately is "infinite sequels". The bad guy wins, for now.
Lot's of meta reference (one Marvel guy says to another, "that's pretty dark, sure you're not from the DC universe").
The movie puts like every Marvel character on screen, at least in cameo, if not a significant part of the plot (and it is easy to spot Stan Lee in this one for about 3 seconds on screen). As a result, the characters are really not taking much very seriously... end of life in the universe - make a joke and a pop reference...

DO NOT CLICK "SHOW", ABOVE UNLESS YOU SAW OR NEVER WILL SEE THE AVENGERS MOVIE
