Embattled President Donald Trump failed spectacularly at a simple photo-op with children in Ohio on Friday.

President Trump toured the Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus with First Lady Melania Trump and Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar.
As part of the tour, “they took part in a time-honored tradition: sitting in tiny desks alongside adorable kids in hope that the guileless innocence on the little faces surrounding them will take some of the heat off of their craven politicking,” in the words of Esquire.

As part of the photo-op, Trump had the simply role of coloring between the lines with young children.

Zooming in on Trump’s art project, however, revealed that commander-in-chief had failed at the simply task of coloring in an American flag.

The President has colored his flag wrong.

Hours after the bungled photo-op, Trump ripped CBS and ESPN over the NFL’s protest controversy while speaking at the Ohio Republican Party’s annual state dinner.

“What the hell is the NFL doing? Do they not have a clue? It’s hurt them badly,” said Trump, who has previously criticized the league for players who kneel in protest during the anthem. “They think they’re doing something smart by not broadcasting the national anthem?”


Trump attempted a mulligan by starting over with a blank sheet of paper.

I wouldn't call Trump clever, but he is fluent in the discourse of white nationalism and its various symbols and dogwhistle terminology. You need only watch his tweets for a day to see that.

I was exaggerating here of course, though that's an actual paraphrased quote from her.

These are some of the symptoms which MAY develop in patients afflicted by syphilis in the teritary phase.

dementia symptoms
vision problems or blindness
strokes
numbness
loss of co-ordination
heart problems
meningitis


Dementia symptoms: This is what my wife was likely referring to in her comment when I showed her this story.
Vision problems or blindness: Pertinent to this flag coloring faux pas, but more generally he prides himself on not seeing himself as anything other than amazing.
Strokes: He sure does spend a lot of time on the golf course, doesn't he?
Numbness: He remains comfortably numb to any inconvenient fact presented to him even even direct quotes he made himself.
Loss of co-ordination: Can't really seem to keep his stories straight can he?
Heart problems: He certainly seems more passionate than Dick Cheney, but his compassion seems to be limited to people who buy his schtick. Both figuratively and literally.
Meningitis: Finally, on a more serious note, this is an infection in nerve tissue and cerebral membranes is likely not present in Trump, but we wouldn't necessarily notice it in him unless he was sent to the hospital frequently.

This photo op probanly involved heavy security, a cavalcade, briefing the school faculty, possibly background checks, picking the right kids, printing off some flag coloring sheets, and all he had to do was color the flag.

I bet it was Kelly Anne's idea. Her Trump hating husband probably asked her when she got home, "So, how did the photo op go today?"
