Pelosi: Impeachment Is Moving Forward

Article said:
He said he believes there's been "a lot of hyperbole, a lot of hysteria" about the impeachment inquiry over the past three months that "can be traced back to the anonymous whistleblower complaint."

"I believe the whistleblower reframed a lot of the facts at issue and caused witnesses in the inquiry to recast their views," Castor said. "And it's unfortunate that we haven't been able to interview the whistleblower."
Okay, so now the argument is that the people that testified under oath in front of Congress had their recollections redrawn in their own mind because of the Whistleblower's complaint?!

So we can't trust the testimony of a dozen or so officials because the whistleblower made with the voodoo on their minds?

I'm sure the whistleblower has voodoo dolls of everyone who has testified. The whistleblower can control their minds. Don't believe me, ask someone credible like Alex Jones or Tucker Carlson.

I can kinda see the point they're trying to make. I mean, there's a question that's two different questions, depending.
If you're in a diner and the waitress looks you in the eye and asks, 'Do you believe in ghosts?' that's one thing.
If you're walking through a cemetery at midnight, and your flashlight goes out, and a voice comes from just behind your ear, with an odd accent and a breathy rasp, "Are ye one for believin' in ghosties, lad?" that's a completely different question.

But this would require the whistleblower to have had access to people on a couple of different continents before they testified. The whole purpose of the deposition is to isolate people's recollections and impressions and memories from other people's testimony.
So, it's just not likely. Not that that matters to the apologists....

Today in... the GOP have absolutely no case...

Is the quote from the sign on the right from a Democrat or Mitch McConnell?

Bonespurs has now been impeached. Charges are Obstruction Of Justice and Abuse Of Power.

Two charges.

Abuse of Power, which in any normal universe is based on the phone call 'transcript' he released and the testimony of a guy who gave Trump $1 million for his inauguration.

Second charge is Obstruction of Congress (not Justice). Obstruction of Justice would require allowing cases to go through the courts over a period of several more months... and then Trump ignoring those almost certain rulings.

Trump is breaking our Government. Doing as he pleases and telling the Dems to fuck off. And pretending the alleged 'lack of evidence' (in addition to what there is in the record) has nothing to do with the obstruction.

Isn't he only impeached after a vote? This was the announcement of the charges for impeachment.

I fear the biggest problem is the fact that every single Republican wishes they could obstruct just as Trump has. Iow, if any of them were to ever rise up to be President, they would WANT to do the same things he's done, so they don't consider it a crime and don't care about future Presidents. They know no Dem would behave that way; only Republicans behave that way so it's a precedent that only benefits Republicans.

President Ellipsis said:
Nadler just said that I “pressured Ukraine to interfere in our 2020 Election.” Ridiculous, and he knows that is not true. Both the President & Foreign Minister of Ukraine said, many times, that there “WAS NO PRESSURE.” Nadler and the Dems know this, but refuse to acknowledge!

Bully bullying a kid
Teacher appears: What is going on here?
Bully: Aww... we were just playing... tell the Teacher that Joey.... we were just playing.
Joey: We were just playing around.
Bully: Total and complete vindication. *smug*

That much has been obvious for some time now, many years actually.

Which is why I'm surprised--and disheartened--that the Dems only listed two articles. They must know the Republicans don't give a shit that a President obstructed Congress. They keep trying to shame the Republicans by repeating the mantra of future Presidents, thinking, I guess, that it will trigger fear that a Dem President will use this precedent, but Republicans know they won't. So there is no downside to allowing the Office of the President to obstruct Congress.

So this should have been a charge they knew would be jettisoned. Which means they needed at least one other charge.

We always find a way to fuck things up.

The high level goal is to keep the integrity of our representative democracy. If the conviction fails, which it surely will, listing obvious, certain crimes works well with Independents. Not to mention the dynamic will switch and the President will no longer be a victim once the Republicans act like asshats as the majority in the Senate. What this means is that if the Republicans do not respond and keep it up, they will suffer somewhat in the 2020 election. This is why they are doubling down on Hunter Biden, creating propaganda in the Ukraine now to appeal to Independents come the 2020 election.

Here's a link to the text that can be copy/pasted.

I like that it emphasizes that Trump would certainly continue to be a threat to our democracy:
Wherefore President Trump, by such conduct, has demonstrated that he will remain a threat to national security and the Constitution if allowed to remain in office, and has acted in a manner grossly incompatible with self-governance and the rule of law.
and

That's the point. Ever since he made the "joke" that Russia should turn over any dirt it has on Hillary, he refuses to acknowledge that what he did was wrong. In fact he repeatedly says his call was "perfect".

I admire your rose-colored glasses, but cannot see through them myself. I see only a Jabba-the-Hutt archetype in the Whitehouse who has installed an entirely criminal enterprise in lieu of an administration, and has managed to corrupt the entire Party in control of the Senate. That party has agreed to abrogate Congress' oversight responsibility in order to clear the path for continued tyranny by the minority. The Republican party is now at least 97% committed to perpetuating the rule of this crime family, and it's not going to stop. Not in 2020 and not in 2024. I don't believe Trump will ever leave the Whitehouse alive, now that he has committed crimes while in office - crimes for which the statute of limitations will not expire by 2024.

So the question becomes when does Congress get to vote. What are the next steps?
Here is a look at the next steps for impeachment:

  1. House judiciary committee drafts articles of impeachment. House Democratic leaders were to hold a news conference Tuesday morning to announce at least two articles of impeachment against Trump.
  2. Judiciary committee votes on articles of impeachment. The committee plans to vote Thursday on the articles, each of which would have to be approved separately. The articles are expected to pass out of committee, where Democrats hold a 24-17 majority, along party lines.
  3. Full House debates articles of impeachment. Upon arrival on the House floor, the articles would come in for debate. While Pelosi is in control of when debate begins and how long it lasts, the process could be delayed, temporarily, by Republican monkey-wrenching.
  4. Full House votes on articles of impeachment. Each article is voted on separately, with a simple majority approval of any one article resulting in Trump’s impeachment. With Democrats holding a 233-197 advantage in the House, and the one independent, former Republican Justin Amash, supporting impeachment, the articles are likely to be passed.
  5. Trump impeached. If at least one article is approved by the House, Trump would become the third president in US history to be impeached. This could happen before a scheduled congressional holiday break beginning on 20 December.

There isn't anything the Democrats can do about that. They can submit articles of impeachment, of which they have put forth two of them which are pretty close to black and white. They vote and then it comes down to what the Senate does. Is there a trial? Are the witnesses that don't include Adam Schiff and the Whistleblower (of whose complaint was pretty backed up 100%)?

Or is it a shit show... with the Chief Justice popping anti-acids (swigging whisky?) every ten minutes... where the Republicans put the Democrats on trial. Ultimately, it still comes down to the two voted on Articles of Impeachment, though. Does a shit show GOP trial provide cover for all GOP Senators to vote partisanly against the most guilty of Presidents? Do a few GOP Senators vote guilty regardless of cover? Do enough vote guilty to give convict a slim majority? Or do the GOP say 'yeah, Trump is guilty as fuck, but it just ain't impeachable' like lying about an affair under oath... and vote 'innocent'?

Elections have consequences... sadly, the sane portion of the population is now suffering from those consequences.

Should have included an article on obstruction into the Mueller investigation, or more directly included it in Article 2, which does have a brief mention of it. The McGahan obstruction is very blatant.

And now that they haven't, it's too late. So this basically means the Mueller investigation is just over and forgotten in spite of the fact that he very clearly and deliberately did what he had to do in order to ensure the House could act on what he knew he could not.

Goddamnit Democrats! Republicans are all worthless pieces of shit not fit for continued existence, but at least they go for the jugular when they know it's time to kill. We think a high road and bunny hugs will solve everything.

Fucking hell.
