The HL account was actually registered on this site 2 years before Underseer, and even made a post around that time in response to Syed (remember that guy?) that is entirely consistent with his current posting style.

I will also note, that if you do indeed suspect HL to be a sock puppet account, you should report your evidence to the mods, as that would be against the TOS.

I watched as much as I could stand of the impeachment hearing yesterday. I have to give it to the Republicans for their ability to lie and distort the truth. I've never seen such horrible people lie as much as the Republicans did yesterday. They tried to make the hearing all about Biden. Biden's the bad guy and Trump is that angel who was only seeking out corruption. If this isn't Orwellian, I don't know what is.

Let's face it. The Republicans held the power for the first two years of the Trump administration, yet they didn't do a thing about their claim of corruption in Ukraine. Now, suddenly when an opponent of Trump appears to be threatening him in the next election, corruption in Ukraine and Biden's son are all the rage. The US has always been far from perfect, but I never thought I'd live to see the day when our government was led by liars and corrupt politicians who projected their own deficiencies on their opponents.

The difference is the GOP consists of nothing but McCarthys now.

Yes. Plus, I was a toddler during the McCarthy era, so it didn't seem as real as what we're facing now. There was a lot of paranoia during that era but we didn't have media telling out right. lies about what was happening at the time. Plus, there was no social media spreading lies. McCarthyism died a natural death. I'm not sure the era we currently live in will do the same.

Well, the House Judiciary Committee voted to approve the Articles of Impeachment. Next the go to the full House for a vote. If the full House votes in favor, then Trump is officially impeached. From what I just heard on the radio, Nancy Pelosi wants to vote no later than next Wednesday and definitely before Christmas.

Either it will be a fast vote with limited debate, or it will turn into a spectacular show in the House. Either way it is likely (but not guaranteed) to pass. Then on to the Senate.

If it doesn't pass the House, an unlikely but possible outcome, that will be a HUGE embarrassment to the Democrats. I can't imagine them coming back from that quickly or easily.

The real question is what will happen in the Senate. They are unlikely to remove Trump, but it can go several ways.
