Former presidential aide Steve Bannon charge with fraud!

This is a couple years old but pertinent.

Man behind viral border wall GoFundMe fundraiser also peddled false news

The man behind a viral GoFundMe page created to help fund Trump’s border wall isn’t just a citizen fundraiser.

Brian Kolfage, a 37-year-old triple-amputee Iraq war veteran from Florida, also runs Right Wing News, a website often cited for promoting false and inflammatory content. (And one we’ve fact-checked before.)

In the face of a partial government shutdown over border wall funding, Kolfage established a fundraiser named "We The People Will Fund The Wall."

As of noon Dec. 21, it has raked in more than $12 million from over 200,000 donors.

Kolfage included a section titled "How do you know this is not a scam?" under which he states that he is a "credible and real person." He asked donors to look up his background and pointed to a verified Facebook page and personal website.

He didn’t mention Right Wing News, whose Facebook page was removed by the platform in October. Facebook scrubbed more than 559 pages due to what it called "coordinated inauthentic behavior" that misled users about their mission and activities.

In addition to Right Wing News, Kolfage also oversaw VeteranAF and FreedomDaily, NBC News reported, two now shuttered sites that pushed conspiracy theories like the one claiming Hillary Clinton was hiding a deadly illness in 2016.

After the Facebook pulldown, Kolfage launched a group called "Fight4FreeSpeech," which also accepts donations on GoFundMe. Kolfage didn’t mention the group, or Right Wing News, in the border wall fundraiser, because they could be a potential distraction from his fundraising goal, according to NBC. (Kolfage did not respond to our request for comment.)

Kris Kobach is the general counsel of the Build the Wall PAC that Steve Bannon was just arrested for being involved in as chairman. The advisory board includes Erik Prince, former CO congressman Tom Tancredo, Sheriff Dave Clarke and former pitcher Curt Schilling.

Curt Schilling is in that group? The guy that convinced Rhode Island to lend him $75 million to start up a video game company in the state, then the company folded? Ok, not surprising that he would be ripping people off in something like this.

In all honesty the game company he made did put out one game, which I enjoyed a lot.

"Steve Bannon? Don't really know the guy."

Donald Trump is the Sargent Schultz of Presidents.

I really want a reporter to ask how many people in his current administration, or his campaign, he'll admit to knowing.
"Sir, i have the org charts of both groups on these wallcharts, could you take this laser pointer and pick out one person on each chart you have actually met?"

Pretty certain his answer would be, "Person. Man. Woman. Camera. TV."

EDIT: Quick question; how does the Postal office arrest anybody? That's kinda like being audited by firefighters.

Steve Bannon charged with cheating "Build the Wall" donors

Steve Bannon is Arrested and Charged With Fraud in 'We Build the Wall' Campaign - The New York Times
Stephen K. Bannon, President Trump’s former adviser and an architect of his 2016 general election campaign, was charged on Thursday with defrauding donors to a private fund-raising effort called We Build the Wall, which was intended to bolster the president’s signature initiative along the Mexican border.

Mr. Bannon, working with a wounded Air Force veteran and a Florida venture capitalist, conspired to cheat hundreds of thousands of donors by falsely promising that their money had been set aside for new sections of wall, according to a federal indictment unsealed in Manhattan.
The effort raised some $25 million, and SB kept some $1 million of it for himself. Some of what he spent the money on:
Despite the populist aura he tries to project, Mr. Bannon is known to enjoy the high life, and he was arrested at 7:15 a.m. on a $35 million, 150-foot yacht belonging to one of his business associates, the fugitive Chinese billionaire Guo Wengui, law enforcement officials said.
He was drinking coffee and reading a book while on deck.

Mediocre till the very end." / Twitter

Just like Al Capone and tax evasion.

Grifters, all. That's what cracks me up. So many Trump supporters just can't stand those coastal elites. Who do they look up to? New York billionaire (maybe) reality TV star. Hollywood producer, Heir to the Swanson family fortune, Multi-millionaire real estate TV star, and so on. These people literally want nothing from these rubes except their votes and their money. They'd never be caught dead with them in public unless it's a photo op, and ideologically they couldn't care less. These people are just a means to an end for them and their lavish lifestyles of privilege, money, and power.

Like I said in another thread. Trump supporters don't get it. These people are grifters that under normal circumstances wouldn't be caught dead with the rubes that worship their every word. They're all the very definition of coastal elite Hollywood types. They use Trump fans for the money and power they can provide them; but they're tools to be used and discarded. Look at these guys. A New York real estate billionaire, A Hollywood producer, an heir to the Swanson family fortune, on and on it goes. These people are all the soulless assholes that Trump supporters supposedly hate so much - yet they secretly want to be just like them.

... Heir to the Swanson family fortune, ...
That's Tucker Carlson. His father married into that family.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "I’ve lost track -
Am I “just a bartender” who should go back to making drinks without health insurance, or am I a secretly deceitful child of privilege because I’m an heiress of the Swanson frozen food empire OH WAIT sorry that’s Tucker Carlson." / Twitter

President “ramble-parade of lies and boasts” on Twitter: "@Acyn Tucker‘s stepmom is the heir to the Swanson frozen food empire and his dad was the CEO of the Corporation of Public Broadcasting." / Twitter

Jen on Twitter: "@realworldrj @Acyn AOC graduated cum laude with a BA majoring in international relations and economics. Tucker has a BA in History." / Twitter
According to Tucker Carlson, she got a silly pointless degree at a silly pointless private college. Something that describes himself much better. He went to a pricey elementary school near San Diego, then to a pricey boarding school in Rhode Island for high school, then to a small liberal-arts college in Connecticut where he majored in history, a college almost as pricey as Boston University, where AOC went to. AOC majored in Economics and International Relations, both much more "practical" than history.

What is the Postal Inspection Service?

CNN said:
With roots tracing back to 1775, the United States Postal Inspection Service works to "enforce roughly 200 federal laws related to crimes that adversely affect or entail fraudulent use of the US Mail, the postal system, postal employees, and customers," according to its website. Inspectors are federal law enforcement officers equipped with guns who can execute arrests and federal search warrants, among other things...

..."Whether dealing with mail thieves in colonial times, stagecoach robbers in the 1880s, gangsters in the 1930s, the Unabomber in the 1980s and '90s, anthrax mailings in 2001, or illegal opioid shipments today -- Postal Inspectors are there," the agency's website reads.

If you put a stamp on anything remotely connected to the commission of a crime, and mail it to someone, that is a separate Federal crime. The mail fraud statutes, which include telegrams, telephones, and now internet communications, have always been used to give Federal law enforcement cover for investigating crimes which violate state laws. This has worked so well, it was the model for Civil Rights violation investigations. If State officials won't prosecute for murder, or whatever, the Federal government can come in and look to see if shooting someone in the back violates the Constitution in some way.

One one hand yeah, it's nice that some more of the Crime Family Associates got busted. But on the other... I thought that under this regime Teh Stoopids were fair game.

Heard this morning: have you noticed undocumented immigrants commit less crimes than the Trump campaign staff.

Also: Steve Bannon looks like an alcoholic thumb.
