There are people who believe in all sorts of weird conspiracies. There is the Q-anon advocates, 9-11 truthers, and several on this forum who 'knew' that Trump and Putin colluded together in the 2016 election.

Hell, there are some on this forum who think Trump is a good President. There are people who believe in all sorts of weird conspiracies. There is the Q-anon advocates, 9-11 truthers, and several on this forum who 'knew' that Trump and Putin colluded together in the 2016 election.

I didn't answer the question because it is such an asininely stupid question. It is based on an idiotic assumption.

The idiotic assumption being that Trump had no idea that Uncle Vlad was trying to help him out, never tried to establish backchannels, never asked Russia to hack Dems' emails, never ...
Yeah, that's not just an idiotic assumption, it's fucking delusional.
Agents of Chaos, a two-part documentary from director Alex Gibney (HBO’s The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley and Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief) examines Russia’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Featuring interviews with key players and experts, classified information leaked by inside sources, and more, the film disentangles the complex details of Russia’s interference in the 2016 election and highlights the frightening vulnerabilities in America’s political process.
The film is a product of years of reporting. With never-before-seen footage inside the Russian troll farms, and videos unearthed from the Russian deep web, the film digs deep into Russia’s sophisticated plans to undermine democracy, raising the alarm for the American public, but also proving that these “agents of chaos” weren’t Russians alone; they were also key players in the United States who, through venality, corruption or circumstance, furthered Putin’s goals, with a vulnerable and unsuspecting American public as their target.

Scientology is not a conspiracy theory movement. It's a manipulative cult. All it takes to become a victim of this type of organization is to be naive. Right wing nut job conspiracy theories appeal to hatred, fear, insecurity, and prejudice. They prey on more than just ignorance and naivete.
The PR bait of cults like scientology is about altruism and goodness, and these cults tend to attract decent, trusting people, not idiots looking for someone to beat up and dominate to help them compensate for their mediocrity and tiny dicks.

Yeah, that's the ticket. So give us an example of someone who fell for QAnon for altruistic reasons, and an example of someone who joined scientology because it demonized outgroups.
You can't, because there is a real and glaring difference. But then again, how would you know? How would you recognize someone who was fooled because of their desire to do good and not for their desire to punish outgroups?

Do you really see scientology as altruistic and caring? They break up families by not allowing their members to associate with "Suppressive People" (those who do not support their 'teachings'). They squeeze members for every dime they can get out of them. etc. I, personally, have never considered cults to be based on altruistic principles.... And yes, Scientology demonizes "Suppressive People".
QAnon are nutty conspiracy theorists but, using your standards, they could be called caring because they think they are trying to save the country and everyone in it except for "those trying to destroy the country".

You're kind of missing my point. I don't really care about the altruism, outgroups, aspects. I was just agreeing with skepticalbip that there are a lot of various kooky groups that believe a bunch of stupid shit. Scientology being one of the kooky groups that some people here have bought into.
