The notion that fascism is peaceful is contradicted by Mussolini's fascist state which routinely used violence against its perceived opponents:
Between 1926 and 1943, the Fascist regime arrested thousands of Italians and deported them to island internment colonies and small villages in southern Italy.
Ordinary Violence in Mussolini’s Italy analyses this system of political confinement and, more broadly, its effects on Italian society, revealing the centrality of political violence to Fascist rule. In doing so, the book shatters the widely accepted view that the Mussolini regime ruled without a system of mass repression.
The Fascist state ruled Italy violently, projecting its coercive power deeply and diffusely into society through confinement, imprisonment, low-level physical assaults, economic deprivations, intimidation, discrimination, and other quotidian forms of coercion.
Moreover, by promoting denunciatory practices, the regime cemented the loyalties of “upstanding” citizens while suppressing opponents, dissenters, and social outsiders. Fascist repression was thus more intense and ideological than previously thought and even shared some important similarities with Nazi and Soviet terror.

Every state uses violence against opponents. America dropped atomic bombs on civilians. Does that mean it is intrinsic to the nature of Democracy to nuke women and children and commit the worst acts of terrorism in history?
Mussolini was dealing with a vicious threat that was tearing apart multiple nations and almost causing civil war in Italy, Communism. Yes, people who opposed he regime were sometimes treated unjustly and I'm saddened to hear about it.
However, it was to prevent a greater evil.
Also, when Mussolini became Prime minister, right wingers went door to door to terrorize leftists, communists, and socialists. Mussolini never gave them permission to do that , and in fact voiced his disapproval.
Thing is, the savages that killed Mussolini without trial, pissed on him, hung him upside down, and used him as target practice, were often the people writing the history books about him, and unlike a genuine Fascist, they had no moral code.
After public desecration of the Duce, the savages who were in control who abused the hell out of his corpse, abused his reputation and legacy, and did everything they could to erase everything good Mussolini did or said.
They added all kinds of fiction because they needed to Demonize and destroy Fascism to prevent it from resurrecting. This is why all the quotes I read attributed to Benito online make him look stupid. Then when I read a book written by him, it is eloquent, intelligent, and doesn't sound like the same person.
Point being, I'm convinced there are shit loads of falsehoods and false quotes attributed to Benito.
