No. Not me. Just some idiot I heard this morning on the radio, screaming on some talk show. The host just thought he was great, never corrected him and encouraged his thinking. Dude, when has Nancy Pelosi told you anything? Why do you think you have to obey her if she did? Are these people really that stupid?

What's the point of this OP? That somebody said something you didn't like? Have you made any attempt whatsoever to understand where the statement might have come from?

For example, Nancy Pelosi is the Speaker of the US House of Representatives. Congress passes legislation which does tell people what to do.

But even if you don't feel the grace to consider any situation except Nancy Pelosi personally phoning this guy up to tell him what to do, why are you so angry? Does this imperil the current Democrat control of the Presidency, House, and Senate?

I also once had a car radio that only got one channel. Have you checked the connection to the antenna?

Are these people really that stupid?
Amazingly, many appear to have average or even above-average intelligence when not discussing politics.

This has to be the mother of all ironic statements.

That was my reaction, too.

I wonder why the complainant bothered to listen to Nancy Pelosi. It is not hard to avoid listening to someone.

It seems pretty safe to guess that he doesn't listen to Pelosi. He learned what to think about her from Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Alex Jones, or someone of that ilk.

I wish I had more artistic skill cause I'd draw a cartoon of a Trump supporter being chained by the neck, and Pelosi is holding the chain. Also, Pelosi is wearing a BDSM outfit.

It ain't just Pelosi... it is all the liberals that are telling these people to do things. I haven't noticed this actually happening in the real world though. I mean, yes, Michelle Obama did suggest serving fruit as a dessert.

Most Tarot decks i'm familiar with, the Devil has little servants bound by chains.
But hoiwever hard the chains are, the 'binding' is loose. Thry could remove them any time they choose to. They just seem more vomfortable in bondage.

The Right's propagznda would be half as effective if they chose to remove the victimhood they suffer so loudly.

The funny part is that conservatives still don't seem to understand how democrats are by in large the party of organic from the ground up policies.

Like conservatives are always painting things from the perspective of Newsom or Pelosi or Schumer or Soros. Do they not realize that none of us generally give a rats ass about what "authorities" say?

Instead, I wear a mask because it slows the velocity of particles exiting my face-holes and catches some large percentage along the fabric of it's interface. We've known this as an effective strategy for decreasing risk from infection for over a century. It's standard practice in every operating theater in the country.

I avoid indoor dining generally for similar reasons.

I just don't need someone else to tell me to do the right thing. Even so, I will join the chorus of voices that enjoin others to do these things, and that demand others do things when doing otherwise creates unacceptable or unilateral sources of risk.

Is it really that hard to understand that the people on the left don't work from the top-down model? Is it really that hard to see that Pelosi is more the avatar of the voices and choices of many rather than the arbiter of those choices and voices?

I mean hell, often enough HERE when I express views on things, a standard response is "why should I listen to YOU?" And all I can do to respond most times is point out that it isn't listening to me that I am asking for but rather to look at the logic and principles and do what makes sense, as I'm not "listening to me" but really just doing what nature itself indicates is wise.

Well, they're not authoritarians because that's what their horoscope told them they'd be this year. They are not open to any other model existing, much less being followed voluntarily.

The short answer is "yes".

The slightly longer answer is, modern conservatives are incapable of of insightful thought and become the text book definition of reactionary. They need a demon to blame for all their ills. These are the people who in their early years said their teacher hated them because the dog kept eating their homework.

Pelosi has replace Hillary Clinton in Conservative demonology. Back in the 90s when it became clear that Hillary had Presidential ambitions, the right wing propaganda machine cranked up the "Fear Hillary" strategy. She was dangerous. Grown men actually told me they were afraid of Hillary Clinton. When I asked why they found her so scary, there wasn't a lot of thought behind their statement.

Pelosi has the added advantage of having been the Congressional leader who got to tell Trump, "No". Very devilish of her.

The result of Pelosi displacing Hillary in the right's crosshairs(not a metaphor) is, the gullible base of the GOP actually believes Nancy has the power to do the things she is accused of wanting to do. The only memory of their American history education is something about Benjamin Franklin inventing the kite and George Washington punching the Delaware. That's all they have on which to base decisions and statements. When all that is processed, all the annoying things in their life are obviously there because Nancy wants it that way.

It think that’s an interesting point and it strikes me as weird when I hear it, too.

Conserevatives talking about Pelosi and Schumer like we worship them. And we’re like, “what? No, I mean I like things D, M, R and S, but I’m not a huge fane of A,B,C and E-L. Although I used to not like N,O and P, but I see a shift in N and I’m feeling more comfortable. But if a better fit comes along, I’m voting for that leader in a heartbeat, and there are some up-and-comers that I like.”

While the conservatives seem to be binary. All-in-worship or send-em-to-Hades. And they don’t get us. They assume we’re binary, too.

Like, we all clearly say, regularly, "we don't worship these people here". That's the original fucking point of the forum. They are literally in talks to bring back IIDB, here.

The point of this forum, and our points of view, at least those who joined because this was and continues to be what was the IIDB discussion boards became, is to
NOT.
WORSHIP.
ANY.
NOUN.

Send him some Gorilla Glue and tell him to go fix his hair.

Very apt description of a major difference between rational Americans and modern-day Republicans*.

I recall being shocked in the 2016 GOP primary debates when Megyn Kelly started the debate on healthcare by telling the candidates what they thought! ("Since you're all Republicans of course you oppose Obamacare") ... Despite that most of ACA was actually designed by Republicans.

* - I write "modern-day Republicans" rather than "traditional Republicans" or "conservatives." These words are NOT synonyms.

Ms. Pelosi should be better appreciated. Here's a brief (NY Times?) synopsis from a few years ago:
People who understand how Congress works will tell you that Pelosi has been one of the most effective legislative leaders in American history, keeping her caucus together and shepherding legislation with a toughness and skill Paul Ryan can only dream about.

After more than 13 years as the House Democratic leader, Pelosi has written enough feminist history to fill the Capitol dome. Any doubts about her stamina as she nears her 78th birthday were dispelled last month as she held the House floor for more than eight hours in support the young undocumented immigrants known as Dreamers. And she has been a prolific fundraiser for the party, although this year Democrats in tight races probably will spend more money on campaign commercials distancing themselves from Pelosi.

Pelosi as Speaker was condemned by the right for her travel by Air Force planes, the same post-911 security that Speaker Hastert had enjoyed.

As Speaker of the House, Pelosi quietly moved the statue of Robert E. Lee from the National Statuary Hall of the U.S. Capitol to the Capitol crypt. In Lee's place, she had a statue of Rosa Parks erected.

In 2002, Pelosi opposed the Iraq Resolution authorizing President Bush to use military force against Iraq, while stating that Iraq, like "other countries of concern", had WMDs. In explaining her opposition to the resolution, Pelosi noted that Central Intelligence Agency Director George Tenet had told Congress that the likelihood of Iraq's Saddam Hussein launching an attack on the U.S. using weapons of mass destruction was low.

For those obsessed with pulchritude, yes she's OK-looking for an 80-year old. Here's a picture of her from younger days:
[picture deleted at user request as it was not Pelosi]

I wish I had more artistic skill cause I'd draw a cartoon of a Trump supporter being chained by the neck, and Pelosi is holding the chain. Also, Pelosi is wearing a BDSM outfit.

Here's a picture of her whipping a shackled Republican. Good enough?
