Inspired of course by this thread.
There are similarities. Both are highly admired by their respective ends of the political spectrum.
Both were radio blowhards.
But there are also differences.
Rush Limbaugh built a successful business.
Wesley Cook (better known under his nom de guerre Mumia Abu Jamal) murdered a police officer in 1981.

Of course, that is probably why the Far Left loves him so much.

Cook should have been executed a long time ago, but alas, his death sentence was converted to life in prison. And there is still a push to free him.
But COVID might succeed where the state failed.
Mumia Abu-Jamal has COVID-19, supporters say at rally in Philly, demanding his release from prison
It has not been officially confirmed, but he might have COVID. Also, he has hepatitis and diabetes, so with any luck ...
Philadelphia Inquirer said:
During a phone interview earlier Saturday morning, MOVE activist Pam Africa said prison officials deny Abu-Jamal has COVID-19, but he believes that is the obvious explanation for his symptoms.
“His breathing is challenging, and he’s afraid his lungs will be compromised,” Africa said. She learned from him he was sick Friday night, Africa said at the rally.
[...]
Abu-Jamal, 67, is “medically vulnerable” and experiencing shortness of breath and chest pains, according to the tweet.

So yeah, how much longer does Herr Goeb...Uh, I mean, Herr Koch, have?

With all serious stuff going on in the world, how obtuse or empty must a life be to make an OP about this situation?

At least he lived long enough for Obama to give him the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

I've never even heard of this guy.
If he really did murder a cop I'm fine with him staying in prison for a long time. Although murdering a cop and being convicted of murdering a cop aren't necessarily the same thing.
Also, I'm no fan of capital punishment. Sounds like a waste of taxpayer dollars in this case.

At first I was like "Wesley who?"

Then I looked it up. Leave it to Derec to be petty and not call him Mumia Abu-Jamal. And of course Derec made a post about a black person he doesn't like...but that's kinda redundant, isn't it?

Ah, OK, I have seen Derec reference Mumia Abu-Jamal quite often. I have literally never heard than name spoken in any other context, yet he is supposed to somehow be a figure of Rush Limbaugh like importance to the left wing.

Hey Derec, when does Mumia Abu-Jamal's AM radio show come on, and how many listeners does he have?

Wesley who?

The latest Black Person Derec wants to hold up so he can publicly beat a dead hobby horse speak ill of a dying human being.

Leave it to Derec to be petty and not call him Mumia Abu-Jamal.
It's not even 'petty.' It's beneath that.
The name change was legally obtained, not just an anti-social affectation on Abu-Jamal's part. Whatever your position on the activism, one should at least respect the legal system, especially if one spends a lot of time online pretending to care about legalities.
This would be like referring to white women by their married name, but not acknowledging a black woman's marriage-based legal name change.

Quit giving him ideas.

Why? Is someone else going to?

Wesley who?
There was a good cover story on him last month in White Male Rage magazine.

Is Derec a senior editor there?

Owner, writer, editor and sole subscriber, I suspect.

Although I am confused as to why Derec is singling out this particular cop killer and not a cop killer like say John Ruzas, who actually got parole.

I'm completely perplexed as to why Derec is silent about this. Fuckit, ! guess we'll never know.

Where's the poll option for "the OP is an unconscious cry for help?"
