10 dead, including a police officer, in Boulder, Colorado. America's Hometown of Mass Shootings.

A white guy with some sort of firearm(s) went into a grocery store, and killed a lot of people. Don't worry though, they got him alive. It wasn't like some black dude trying to use a counterfeit $20 bill. He was even able to walk out on his own power.

As a reminder, there is no hope, this stuff is permanent. The NRA won, if you backed this stuff, congrats, look at what a positive difference you helped to make.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT COLORADO’S OPEN CARRY LAWS

In Colorado, we love our guns. Fortunately, our state is one of the most reasonable ones out there regarding gun laws. However, any weapons charges resulting from illegal possession or carrying of a firearm are still harshly prosecuted, so it is important to know the law.
...
Specifically, you are not permitted to open carry in the following locations:
...
Any local business or organization that prohibits firearms, which is denoted on entryway to the premises.
...

Kroger, which owns the King Soopers supermarket brand in the Rocky Mountain area, said in a statement that it is "horrified and deeply saddened by the senseless violence" that occurred at their store in Boulder.

"The entire Kroger family offers our thoughts, prayers and support to our associates, customers, and the first responders who so bravely responded to this tragic situation," the company said in the statement that was posted on Twitter.

Somehow this is supposed to have something to do with the need to have a well regulated militia. Fuck, if I saw someone carrying a gun in a grocery store I'd be out of there in a second. It's about time the average citizen woke up. When sales receipts drop people like the Kroger's will take action and then lawmakers will start to respond with some facsimile of concern.

This comic strip came out nearly a decade ago:

Wasn't there another mass killing just, like, 2 or 3 days ago?

If someone squeaks out any call to reduce gun power, the gun-nuts respond: "So soon? Can't we spend at least a week just giving our thoughts and prayers to these victims and their families?" With massacres now so frequent, another one will come along during the week, making it impossible to EVER complain about gun-nuttery.

So long as the Dickey Amendment exists and the ATF still has to operate as though we're living in the 20th century, the exact same crap will happen again and again. You can tell the ATF officers in this clip stopped being frustrated a long time ago and are just fucking over it now:

I seriously doubt anyone would be okay if a cop pulled them over, that they'd have to wait 6 weeks on the side of the road if they're lucky whilst the registration papers of your car is being checked out.

The DA was speaking a couple times yesterday and mentioned both times about seeking Justice for the families of the victims, and I'm thinking, there is no justice for this. People are wantonly killing, we know they killed, they are going to prison, and the people are still dead, their family's grieve stricken, the survivors seriously traumatized, and a location haunted.

There was a time when there seemed to be justice, but now it feels like nothing more than accounting. Writing off the debt.
The last mass shooting hasn’t even fallen off page one yet.
How long until the cliche, "they always come in threes"?

# documented cases of voter impersonation in U.S., 2000-2014: 31
# homicides in U.S.: about 16,000 per year.

Guess which problem obsesses the Repubs?

It's about time the average citizen woke up.
woke up? to what? from what?

this is exactly what the average citizen in the US wants - right-wing types love mass shootings, and left-wing types love capitulating to right-wing types on everything all the time and then suffering the consequences of the abomination that is right-wing political theory.

this is a win-win for everyone who has a stand on the issue.

also... is this a sign our country is starting to recover from the pandemic? random mass shootings starting up again feels like a real return to normal.

They just keep coming.
Rep Joe Neguse just spoke. I was hoping for a strong statement. But no. SOS different shooting. It’s time to speak out about those who stop meaningful legislation being passed while this is still fresh. While the bodies are still warm. I’m sick of this day after kumbaya shit.
This country is awash in guns and every nut job who wants one can buy one.
Fuck the Second Amendment.

According to the Daily Beast, the guy sounds like he had extreme mental health issues. Paranoid schizophrenia.

Why such a person is allowed to obtain a gun is beyond me.

I'm sorry. You're right. I guess I was over-reacting. Never mind. lalalalalala

i don't think you were over-reaching at all, i think you're just under the unfortunate misconception that people who disagree with you politically or socially are only doing so because they're blind or misled, which is an almost universal failing of the left that i have been railing about for quite some time.

if someone is slowly working through your arm with a hacksaw, declaring that sooner or later they're going to hit an artery and then that'll wake them up to the fact they're sawing your arm off and will surely stop is not an effective strategy.

OK, I can accept that. I'm not very involved politically other than writing my congress people a few times a year. But I live in CT which is staunchly liberal (at least for awhile now). And we are pro-active on gun control and police oversight as well as common sense pandemic mitigation practices. So I do tend to look at the craziness in the other states as irrational. They are blind to their political folly and they are seriously misled by the entire Republican leadership. What else is there? Oh yeah, Russia. Eyes wide shut. Please explain to me what I'm missing. What should I be doing aside from pointing out their folly. I don't believe in countering crazy with crazy. I have to have faith that the fever will eventually burn itself out and we can all shake hands again.

Where do you get the idea that right wing types love mass shootings?

What else is there?
that the right is acting according to its moral guidelines, that the masses on the right vote for republicans for the express purpose of having them continue doing what they're doing, because this behavior that you (and myself, btw) find so abhorrent is virtue to them.

assuming you hold the keys to the answer of moral rightness is a mistake, thinking that what you believe is what everyone believes and anyone who does otherwise is being misled or tricked somehow.
i think this is a grievous mistake of the left, when the actual answer is that these things that they do is what they consider virtuous and good, and their behavior is in keeping with their moral character.
