Covid-19 miscellany

No, it won’t. The only people I feel for in this case are the medical staff that have to care for his negligent ass.
...amd anyone getting treated in the hallway because he's AVOIDABLY taking up a bed....

Speaking of which... At the ER now, with my husband. He's got a pretty bad infection, and we have been waiting for over an hour to be seen as his symptoms get worse, and it's all because of these antivax shitheads squatting the beds.

That’s right, people exercising their right to peacefully protest against state tyranny are “half wits”

Nope, in Australia we call them dumb cunts. Fuck the lot of them.

Anybody else find it ironic that sensible measures during a pandemic are considered authoritarian, yet fuckwits who are anti mask or anti vax are so because the right wing leaders told them to be?

Seppos know they have liberty. It's right there in the pledge of allegiance that they're made to recite as children.

My daughter who works at Dunking Donuts learned today that a co-worker who had lied that she was vaccinated and was working there unmasked has tested positive for Covid. She was serving customers unvaccinated without a mask and working around other employees including my daughter.

My daughter is fully vaccinated but is still getting a test tomorrow as must all employees but if she is sick, she has been around my boys who got their second shot 5 days ago.

The store manager told all employees to get tested. He told his boss at corporate. This boss told him to tell the higher up that an employee has tested positive but this corporate person has told the store manager to withhold the fact that the employee who tested positive lied, was not vaccinated and was not wearing a mask while working.

Once again I'm furious!

All the other employees are furious and will be calling HR to tell the complete story.

So just to be safe, my daughter is sleeping in the tent tonight and possibly tomorrow. Her driver's ed may have to be called off.

And mostly I am worried for my boys. They couldn't start their vaccinations until they got back from Canada. I started it the day that they got home.

So my daughter was tested today. Waiting for results hopefully tomorrow.

In the meantime, the manager of the Dunkin Donuts store, while telling everyone to get tested, is still expecting everyone who was exposed to the idiot who lied about being vaccinated, didn't wear a mask at work and tested positive for covid, to come in to work. And apparently, this person got tested and then went to work while waiting for the results so she knew she had symptoms.

My daughter threw up yesterday, has had headaches, diarrhea. We can think of other reasons for this. For example the car she was in when she asked me to pull over has a dead mouse nest somewhere in the ventilation. That could have caused her to throw up. She just got an IUD re-implanted (It fell out) and I understand from her that getting a new IUD can cause diarrhea. And she's under a lot of stress that can cause headaches.

But those are three Covid symptoms too. Recall she IS fully vaccinated. So she is staying in the tent outside just in case. But tomorrow is supposed to be 88 degrees. I really don't want her in the house and the CDC does say to quarantine even if vaccinated if some of the symptoms occur. But she's expected to go to work tomorrow.

In the meantime her driver's ed was cancelled today and probably tomorrow. Her driver's test is in 10 days and she doesn't know if she'll get the driving in on time to take the test. (Fucking idiot co-worker may have fucked my daughter over. If my daughter takes the test and fails it's 6 months to schedule a retest. If she just reschedules it's probably 3 months to get another appointment.

I am going to call the town board of health tomorrow to inform them of the situation. I'n my opinion it's wrong to keep the store open when every employee is now waiting on a test result. And what about the 100+ customers who came in and she served them drinks and food?

And I'm really curious what TSwizzle has to say about a co-worker who lied that she was vaccinated and worked in the store unvaccinated without a mask, then has covid symptoms and gets a test but continues to go to work until the test came back positive. What do you think of that co-worker TSwizzle. Was she exercising her freedom to infect others?

Is this another one of these “so when did you stop beating your wife?” line of questioning ?

If your daughter was wearing a mask she will be fine right ?

Don't deflect. This is the question:

And I'll emphasize, consider that there were co-workers in the store and hundreds of customers who expect that under the current rules in Massachusetts, anyone who is unvaccinated will wear a mask in a store.

What do you think about the behavior of this unvaccinated co-worker who lied, did not wear a mask as requirws and then went to work having already gone to get a covid test, presumably for symptoms, but went to work anyway.

How do you judge that behavior?

Your daughter was wearing a mask right ? She’ll be fine, relax.

Again you deflect and appear to be unwilling to answer the question:

No single safeguard is effective on its own.

As is the case in almost every risk environment.

How someone can survive to adulthood without having this basic understanding of what risk avoidance entails, I do not know.

[Again you deflect and appear to be unwilling to answer the question:

Yeah, take a hint.

I’m curious as to why you are so worked up about it and what my thoughts on the matter are.

Your daughter was wearing a mask, she’ll be fine. Relax.

How is that?

Masks are only effective when everybody wears one properly and maintain a six foot distance.

And masks are never 100%.

They just reduce the odds greatly when used properly.

Reducing odds.

That's what intelligent people try to do.

I guess I was very curious if you saw anything inappropriate about this co-workers behavior. Given your refusal to address the question, I'll assume you see nothing wrong with it.

Normal (Non-N95's) masks are more effective at keeping an infected person from spreading the virus than keeping another safe from breathing the virus in. But you are correct that they are nowhere close to 100% effective.

Your daughter’s coworker should not have lied and should stay home if they are sick no matter what the sickness maybe.

More details come out. This co-worker talked to her doctor who said he thought she may have covid and told her to get the test. So as I mentioned, despite symptoms and despite doctor say so, she went to work anyway. Her positive test came in when she was working. She didn't say anything then, did not put on a mask and worked the last several hours of her shift before informing anyone she had tested positive!!!

How can anyone be so fucking stupid and so fucking careless?????

Dunkin Donuts does provide sick pay.

She is in her mid-30's and has two young kids at home.

Thank you for minimally answering the question.

My wife tells me from her sources — though Google doesn't show this yet — that the Thai government has suddenly announced that it will not allow private hospitals to dispense Moderna vaccine! (We've already paid $390 in advance for three Moderna vaccinations.) But Thai governments have a habit of announcing stupid policies they've not thought out, listening to the reaction, then quickly retracting their own stupidest ideas — so maybe this story will be obsolete by tomorrow!

But this is a matter of concern for us: My wife and I are both in high-risk groups; and as a foreigner I am ineligible for government vaccination. We were happy that our area had zero cases for many months, but cases are now reported just a few miles from our home. Our province is setting up a field hospital for more beds.
That sounds bad. But also a bit odd. Which means do they use for the announcements? Is it some kind of official bulletin?

Anyway, I hope you can soon get Sinopharm shots at least. Eventually, you'll probably get Moderna too, because given time, there will be enough vaccines for everyone, but having a mediocre vaccine that at least usually prevents serious illness is much better than no vaccine.

Private hospitals are not allowed to buy vaccines independently, IIUC. All vaccine imports require government permission.

My wife turned down a Sinovac jab without asking my advice. :( (I'd have advised that any jab is better than nothing. Maybe I'm wrong: she has to worry about interaction with her cancer treatment.)

Frightening rumors abound. I just got off the phone with a Brit who lives near me. He tells of camps with migrant workers (Burmese etc.) which are quarantined and not supplied with food; temples in Bangkok which are asked to cremate large numbers of unidentified bodies; dead bodies abandoned for hours on the sidewalks of Bangkok; etc. Government has been caught in multiple lies. A few days ago, protesters in Bangkok were attacked with tear gas and water cannons.

With a nearby village under lock-down, and us with no way to get vaccine, I am frightened for self and family.

Foreigners may be eligible for vaccine in some provinces or districts, but not ours. Checking the rules for such vaccines I see that one District will vaccinate foreigners over the age of 75, IF they have a work permit. (Duuuh. Most 75-year olds are retired and lack a work permit.)
:( That's awful.

Maybe the rest of your family can get vaccinated? That would at least reduce the risk for them, and indirectly to some extent for you and your wife.
