Two new Mofi one-steps arrived this morning, and they are going on the table for a listen tonight. Expensive as they are, I own every one-step Mofi has released, and in every case have found them to be the best pressing I have heard of the album. So I have high hopes for these as well.

I am unburdened by what has been.
A friend of a friend worked for The Chieftains and we went to one of their shows in the LA area, a UCLA campus I think it was. I had a great night, ended up having drinks with most of the band after the gig. A really enjoyable night. Must have been around 1996/97.

Takes a minute 40 before the music kicks in, but...

The thing about this song is how simple the production is. It's piano, bass, a kick drum, and her voice. A lesser producer would have laden it down with excessive instrumentation...strings, crashing drums, maybe a guitar solo...but this is not that. There also seems to be not a hint of auto-tune here. It's pretty effing good.
