How should west respond to potential (likely) Russian invasion of Ukraine?

Nobody exports anything. US wants to control every country in the world regardless of their form of government. "Democracy" is preferable (easier to control in the long term), but monarchies-despotism is fine too. Russia just does not want to be controlled.
You're starting to sound like a scene out of Robocop.

You look defeated.

Have been watching CNN and on one of the short excerpt they showed a house with gas pipeline burning, saying it was result of russian "separatists" shelling Ukraine controlled territory.
.....

Then clicked on some russian news about this latest escalation. Guess what I see there? Yep, the full version of that video which clearly shows "separatists" in clearly marked uniform storming that house. The Text explains - ukrainian millitary were caught on separatist controlled territory and were returning fire from that house.

Need to double check if it's the same house/video.

OK, false alarm, different houses. But Ukrainians did invade "separatist" controlled land.

Invaded their own country, did they?

So why did you even bother to post the two stories if they were different houses? And aside from that, you claim to have video of separatists but only text of Ukrainians. See the problem there?

Are you now going to rebut with “why else would the separatists be there if not to chase away the Ukrainians?”.

Not following you here.

Why the fuck would Ukranian forces attack into Eastern Ukraine today? Use some common sense. There are a 150,00 blood thirsty soldiers on their border just itching for an excuse. Many Ukrainians are still training with wooden rifles. Why would Ukraine want war right now? Who benefits in a war right now?

I explained why in one the previous posts. Basically the same reason Georgians attacked Russia.

I'm thinking that it's very possible that you don't understand military options. Consider this, why would Ukrainians wait to attack until 150,000 Russians had assembled on their border? If they really are this stupid, then why not wait to attack for a couple weeks when the ground is muddy from the spring thaw?

Perhaps it is you who does not understand. Georgia is a 4 mil people country. Yet they choose to effectively attack Russia. So why would they do that?

I am learning what a lifetime of propaganda does to a person.

No shit! BS has been drummed into his head so constantly for so long that he not only SAYS this kind of crap, he actually believes it:
“US wants to control every country in the world regardless of their form of government.”
I’m sure no American ever told him that, so who did? Why, Pootey did of course. It’s truly sad and scary how easy it is for a totalitarian regime to control not just the actions, but the thoughts of their subjects.

A valuable lesson. The next Republican junta will follow the Russian model.

Yes yes. I know all about that. Those crafty chess masters in Russia seed discord in their bordering countries. Create chaos. Then when the country sends in troops to stop the rebellion, Mother Russia invades to save the day. But separate question. And you need to focus here. Why would Ukraine begin shelling/invading/marauding into Eastern Ukraine now? Why wait to commit these meannie acts now when there are 150,000 Russian troops directly on their border itching for a fight. Why wouldn't the Ukranian Barbarians wait to launch their mean attacks for 2 or 3 weeks so that the ground would soften, making it more difficult for supply lines for the Russian military?

Agreed. There were earlier posts in this thread asking why is it in the US best interests to encourage democracy? And it's real simple, democracies rarely invade other democracies. They very rarely invade anyone. Yes, the US invaded Iraq. But how many other examples are there? The greatest imperialist threats that we have in the world today come from Dictatorships in Russia and China invading their neighbors.

Because they know Russia is not going to invade.
So, why did democratic Georgia invaded non-democratic Russia?

State controlled media is a joke but if it's all I've ever experienced I'd be just as clueless and just as dangerous.

Barbos is so full of propagandist bullshit, his eyes are brown.
He brings up
Vietnam ...
Chile ...
Central America ...
Saudi Arabia ...
as examples of American imperialism.
But he will never respond to the question:
HOW MANY OF THOSE DID AMERICA INVADE, OCCUPY, ANNEX AND CLAIM AS IT OWN TERRITORY?
(Hint: none)

By contrast, let's look at Russia.
Crimea ...
Georgia ...
Belarus ...
All recent conquests of Russia.
And totatlly consistent with Russia's history of invading its neighbors.
Here's a partial list of countries that Russia has invaded, just in the last 85 years:

I'll only say this once, because I don't want to be drawn into your straw man argument. But here it is: Georgia did not invade Russia. Georgian troops tried to retake a break away Georgian area. You could call it a Russian influenced civil war if you'd like. But the Georgia meanies did not attack Russia.

Oil price per barrel is now over $90 across the board. I suspect this also has something to do with this .

Georgian troops tried to retake a break away Georgian area.
......and they thought they can get away without Russia kicking their asses, right?
Again, 4mil population.
Now we have Ukraine with 40mil and really nothing to lose. Russia can't invade (too costly) The best Russia can do it to take breakaway regions and pay with Nord Stream 2. In doing so, Ukraine gets gas transit in perpetuity, rake up cost of it even higher than current 4x premium. US meanwhile can start selling their gas to Europe, and US politicians get contribution from fracking industry. LM is also get huge contracts for selling weapons to defend Europe from Russia. And all of that because some Ukrainian girl wanted better panties.

Does that answer your question?
