What will be the October Surprise?

You assume that Harris only was with Brown for political advantage for her career—
It is very likely given their extreme age gap. It is at the very least appearance of impropriety that he put her on state boards.

It’s the type of scenario that usually attracts the ire of the “me too” crowd.

A30 year age gap is pretty gross.
Okay, 24 years for Donnie and Melania. And we are talking fat Elvis Donnie, not young Elvis.

What to make of the age gap between Belichick at 72 and his reported “girlfriend” of 24, I do not know.

Solar is actually creating a problem--in an environment in which nuclear takes the load those solar panels are useless. But if the solar subsidies continue (and note that net metering is a form of subsidy) that means everything else is more expensive.
Nuclear is good for baseload. But you need more power in daytime. I think some rooftop solar in the electricity mix is good for the reasons I stated, but there should be ceiling. What I think is useless are big PV farms in the middle of nowhere. You lose the biggest advantage of distributed solar that way, and keep all the disadvantages.

I do NOT think you can find any example. Care to tone down the hyperbole and ad hominem? Or is that all you are capable of?
You do realize you were replying to yourself?

The "goose stepping" phrase was from LD replying to our conversation in post #219. I never said you used those words. Your insinuation in post #216 that I should not criticize Biden lest I somehow aid "fascism" by doing so, does have "goose stepping" qualities though, so the Hound was not entirely wrong despite himself.

Perhaps you do not "goose step" but you are so infatuated with (the alleged sexiness of?) Sarah Palin
LMAO! I am not "infatuated" by her. I just think she is not nearly as stupid as she is made out to be. Just like Hillary or Kamala are not nearly as smart as they are made out to be. That does not mean I think that Sarah Palin is smarter than either of those two women. It's just a comparison of reality with the claims made about these prominent women.

that you fawn over her (even subconsciously "promoting" her to "Mayor of Alaska")
I meant to write "governor of Alaska, mayor of Wasilla" and made a slip and wrote "governor of Alaska, mayor of Alaska". The word obviously carried over from the previous instance. How long are you planning of making hay out of this slipup? Should I repay you in kind and keep bringing up your confident ignorance of the Hastert rule for example? Actual  Hastert rule for comparison.
while managing to insult almost Every.Single.Female.Member of the Democratic Party.
It is not "insulting" to say that for example Kamala Harris is not one of the most academically qualified presidential candidates. I did not say that she was not well educated, but that the hyperbole is not justified.

I'm sure you'd have nothing but praise for Boebert and MTG if they were as sexy as your darling Sarah.
They are both crazy, even if some of the attacks on them have been unfair.
I am sure you have nothing but praise for say Cori Bush or Sheila Jackson Lee, even though they are among the dimmest bulbs in the already intellectually underpowered chandelier that is the US House.

The reality is that most Trump supporters think a discussion is about screaming MAGA and they flame out pretty quickly if they even try.
There is some of them on the other side too. Except they scream "You're a Trumpsucker!" or "You fascist!" ...

The current political situation is going to be one party rule. The Republicans have ensured we have no choice in this, our only choice is which party. And I'll take the Democrats over the Christian Taliban. We either elect Democrats, or we elect Republicans and have no more meaningful elections in the future. They have made it very clear what they intend.
If that is true, then we do not have meaningful elections now either. If there is no meaningful choice, we do not have a democracy.

Whether you find it gross or not is irrelevant. The only people that get to decide on a relationship between consenting adults is those adults.
Of course they may enter such a relationship being consenting adults. However, it is silly to insist that she must have really been attracted to him and that the relationship was not likely motivated by what he can do for her career.

When clouds come through the output from the panels drops considerably but the demand does not. Solar only reduces fuel use and nuclear fuel is of trivial cost. (And throttling the plant might very well actually be more expensive.)

Well October is here. Netanyahu has invaded Lebanon. Iran has attacked Israel. But I don’t think those are the October surprise. Something else will happen.

But what will it be?

Biden should definitely strike the ayatollahs back.

But he and Kamala are too afraid of Michigan Muslims to do anything.

This is from an anti-Israel rally in Dearborn, MI:

This is whom Walz has expressed sympathy with.

The location of the hostages Hamas kidnapped last year will be ascertained by information on Hunter Biden's laptop. MAGAtards were right all along.

That or some other dumb cunt who should never have been near firearms in the first place takes another shot at Orange Joffrey. It could go either way.

Biden and Harris should escalate shit to potentially dangerous levels, but they won't because they are anti-Semites. :rolleyesa:

What is with some people and escalation. They love that shit! Iran lobbed another series of toothless missiles and Derec wants to start the War to End All Wars... for realz.

Can't help yourself , can you? :hobbyhorse:

No, not because they are anti-Semites, but because they are trying to appease the anti-Semites because they need their votes.

WW2 could have been avoided had Hitler been stopped when he remilitarized Rheinland. Instead the World waited until Germany invaded Poland.

It is always better to tackle things early on then to let them fester. The illegitimate regime controlling Iran is a cancer that is already metastasizing - to Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Iraq. It would have been better to have dealt with the ayatollahs when they were Stage 1 or 2, but here we are. Things will definitely not get better if we try to appease them.

What I am saying is - it is better to act now than to lead with a much bigger war later. If the Tehran regime is so emboldened now just wait until they get the bomb - things will get much, much worse for the free world.

Dock workers strike, anyone?

If we ignore it, it will go away. Just like the coal miner's strike, and the hotel worker's strike, and the health provider's strike, the auto manufacturer strike, and teacher's strikes. There is no gradually escalating series of mass worker's movements of historically unprecedented size and scope in Ba Sing Se.

A particularly stupid strike. It's not just about the pay; they do not want port operations to be modernized.
Reminds me of the Stevedores Union boss in the 2nd Season of the Wire. He was fearing that automation would be taking their jerbs[sic] too.

Coal mining should go away as soon as humanly possible. Coal mining is dangerous, and burning coal is not only the most carbon-intensive fossil fuel, it also releases a smörgåsbord of other toxins such as mercury, lead, sulfur oxides (acid rain!), polycyclic aromatics and far more radioactivity than a nuclear power plant.
