Are people already regretting their choice?

Why did the Wikipedia page views for Project 2025 skyrocket just after the election?

And if you're voting about taxes, why didn't you look at the numbers?

Taxes are going up for all but the top 5%. Enjoy your negative tax cut.
Project 2025 has the distinction of being the very first thing written by The Heritage Foundation that liberals believe.
You fail to understand.

We have always believed them about their intent. Where we find them utterly wrong is with their supposed facts.

Project 2025 is intent. It is completely consistent for us to believe it's what they intend.
They were extreme enough to overturn Roe v Wade, give the president powers of immunity (which is nowhere in the Constitution), so those are a couple reasons I find it extremely unreasonable to be skeptical of Project 2025. And they have all branches of government now, there is basically nothing stopping the religious fundamentalists from getting what they want. How in the world is it impossible? The idea that it's impossible is totally nonsensical.

Before deleting my twitter account, saw a screenshot from some message board where a poster was glad they are going to get rid of that ‘communist’ Obama Care, all he needs is his Affordable Care Act…. Then some one explained they are the same thing, and the guy angrily responds ‘why are there two names for it?’ Blaming democrats of course

Can’t prove many of these stories are real, but they do sound plausible

Years ago, before Trump I think, some conservative was protesting to "Keep the government out of my Medicare!!"

I'd welcome a blue tidal wave after the ACA is killed by the GOP and people realize that Obamacare and ACA were the same thing, and they get pissed at the GOP for killing it.

Candidate George W. Bush 2000 said:
This frightens some in Washington because they want the federal government controlling Social Security, like it's some kind of federal program.
W wasn't a great speaker and gaffed like crazy... but his statement was a bit too misspoken to be a gaffe.

America elected W. 9/11 and Iraq appending failure later... re-elected him. So, this whole Trump thing isn't quite as unprecedented as some might think.

At the time of Bush II election (2004) his wars weren't in the dumpster and the Republicans were still riding the economic bubble of their insane domestic policies.

Once all that crashed, the Republicans had left the country in such a deep hole that a black kid from Chicago could waltz away from the rich, experienced, white, war hero Republican candidate.

Iraq was already roughly one year longer than advertised, "Christmas... tops". Goodness help me, I can't find that quote.

It was one of the reasons the GOP needed to Swift Boat Vet Kerry. The economy wasn't that good and W's approval ratings were poor.

That would require an awareness of reality that is very starkly not in evidence.

In America these days, I'll take what I can get. If ax'ing ACA drops the House to the Dems in a tidal wave as people start fucking caring again, fine. I hope the ACA survives though or is made stronger. I know that under the GOP it won't be made stronger. Abortion ban could be bigger though. The results in the states were generally very much in approval of it. Not certain what the GOP would consider.

The 2026 Senate Map has a lot of GOP seats up for re-election, but only a couple in states where one would expect competition. Granted, Secretary spot openings could provide an opening here and there. But if 60% of the populace is for abortion rights and there is a ban, maybe finally the electorate votes in their interests.

Most Trump voters are like any other voters who believe the country is headed in a direction that doesn’t benefit them. Concerns such as the outsourcing of jobs, inflation, and both perceived and real biases on other domestic issues drive their decisions. While the media often emphasizes discussions about fascism, racism, and bigotry (and there is merit to those conversations), it’s notable that they steer clear of labeling Trump voters as the ‘1%’ hoarding wealth—likely because that’s an easily debunked claim. I understand why the majority of Trump voters made their choice. While there is a minority that is prouder to be degenerates than I am of being Black, most are struggling financially and view Democratic policies and rhetoric about equality as direct challenges to their way of life, even if their interpretation may not be entirely accurate.

My main issue with Trump voters (and, likewise, with those who support Democrats) is that politicians on both sides continue to prioritize the interests of the 1% over the rest of America. The entire spectacle of the DNC and RNC, amplified by profit-driven news organizations disconnected from everyday communities, only makes things worse. These media outlets, have talking heads who wouldn’t set foot in a grocery store, keeping the public so distracted and polarized that we’re on the brink of a modern return to a feudal-like system—where voicing dissenting political opinions could be risky or even seen as heretical.

Fox, CNN, and similar networks don’t represent us. They represent FOX or FOXA & WBD on NASDAQ. Anyone who regrets their choice for reasons other than recognizing that the entire system is fucked is likely to repeat the same mistakes.
I could not agree more.

You actually could, with just a little bit of self awareness.

Unless he's utterly incompetent there will be no blue wave permitted.

With the election a done deal, looking over the documentation of Trump's "plans" is an unfortunate neccessity right now. Certainly my colleagues and I in higher ed have been pouring through his nonsense, trying to deduce how much and whether his new policies will affect the coming academic year....

Pouring what? Your tears? Erasing fluid? The contents of a witches' cauldron? If I still lived in any of the Fifty States I might be tempted to pour whiskey down my throat, or something stronger!

From Middle English poren, pouren, puren (“to gaze intently, look closely”), from Old English *purian, suggested by Old English spyrian (“to investigate, examine”). Akin to Middle Dutch poren (“to pore, look”), Dutch porren (“to poke, prod, stir, encourage, endeavour, attempt”), Low German purren (“to poke, stir”), Danish purre (“to poke, stir, rouse”), dialectal Swedish pora, pura, påra (“to work slowly and gradually, work deliberately”), Old English spor (“track, trace, vestige”). Compare also Middle English puren, piren (“to look, peer”). See peer.

I have never understood/will never understand the Trump voter. Their complete lack of character assessment skills. Even on surface details and style markers, Trump is revolting....

I almost started a thread to address this question. Although I'm a self-diagnosed autist I can often assess character better than some others. Just watching Trump for a few minutes makes it clear to me that he is severely flawed, and far too disgusting to consider for the POTUS job.

Are the millions of Americans who voted for him really so crippled when it comes to assessing character?

I don't wonder about mine. I live in deep red Trumpistan. I'm currently avoiding going out in public for fear of getting a little too honest with someone.

I mentioned before that my sister left a town she loved (near California's "gold country") because she was surrounded by Trump lovers.

Although I do keep renewing my blue passport, for decades expats and tourists are the only Americans I've seen. I avoid them, preferring to seek friendship with almost any other nationality. On a few occasions where I did glimpse the political "thinking" of an American expat or tourist, I was horrified by their breathtaking ignorance.

I'd welcome a blue tidal wave after the ACA is killed by the GOP and people realize that Obamacare and ACA were the same thing, and they get pissed at the GOP for killing it.

A "blue tidal wave"? As in a fair and free election? I'm not nearly as optimistic as many of you.

The damage Trump and his fascist enablers will do to America is enormous Only in a dysfunctional democracy could Trump have come to power at all. Expect what remains of democratic principles and procedures to be deliberately eroded over the next four years.

I blame autocorrupt....

Nah, just standard issue dyslexia and not enough time to edit posts carefully. Your average Poli forum post is a paragon of brilliant prose -poetic, at times- carefully hidden within a veritable see of type Os, homophobes, and mallard propisms.
