Trump's Appointments

Where are the people screaming to get rid of government red tape and bureaucracy on this one? Where is the America First crowd when it comes to RFK Jr. damaging America and ceding our pharmaceutical industry and infectious disease research to Europe and China?
Well said. The same code of silence applied to Trump's ridiculous opining on covid cures back in 2020. He was completely illiterate on science and medicine, just made stuff up, and no one from his party dared to comment. (Maybe Trump's theory on setting off a nuclear device inside a hurricane was zanier, but it's hard to distinguish levels of stupidity in his brainfarts.) If Trump and Kennedy put their heads together, they could come up with a dead whale head theory of disease prevention. If every home in America had a dead whale head in the front yard we could, as many people are saying, develop immunity to all sorts of pathogens just by being close to all that decaying flesh.

Trump supporters think is proper swamp draining by getting corporate shills out of the agencies.

I would applaud an honest effort to combat corporate regulatory capture.

This is not what is happening with Gabbard, Kennedy, et al.

This shit is cartoon villain level evil.

Shit yeah. Dunk your infant in the giant maggot filled pool of liquid whale and you’ll never need to vaccinate it.

RFK Jr. already contributed to a measles outbreak that infected over 57,000 and killed 83 children:

According to FactCheck.org, in 2018, two infants in Samoa died when nurses accidentally prepared the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine with an expired muscle relaxant instead of water. Following the infants’ deaths, the Samoan government temporarily suspended the vaccination program.
The temporary suspension prompted Kennedy and his anti-vaccine nonprofit Children’s Health Defense to reportedly spread various falsehoods about vaccinations across the island, in turn resulting in a drastic decline in vaccination rates.
A year later, a measles outbreak on the island caused by a sick traveler ended up infecting more than 57,000 people and killing 83, including children.

With a track record like that, he's Trump's perfect guy.

Trump wants to Make America Diseased Again.

Good cabinet picks. Exactly what I was hoping for. Utter fucking incompetent morons. They’ll fuck up, making fools of him and themselves.
SLD I agree with your sentiment but unfortunately we have just proven that we are a nation of fucking idiots.

RFK Jr. Has announced that in his first week he is going to call in all the department heads of the HHS and going to tell them all to halt drug development and study of infectious diseases for 8 years. He wants them to focus on chronic diseases instead. This potentially means the FDA halting all drug approvals. And stopping _all_ research on infectious disease? Are you fucking serious?

Not only will we lose out on potential breakthroughs, but we will lose out massively to China, to Europe, etc who will continue investing in new development and research and get both the benefits and the competitive edge against American companies. You can bet the most talented researchers an America are going to pack up their bags and head to countries where their research is supported and jobs will be more plentiful in these areas.

So...we're supposed to guzzle Ivermectin, clutch our healing crystals, and avoid chemtrails?
That exactly what he accomplished in Samoa, just with a bit of schmoozing and propaganda.

Mike Pence comes out against RFK Jr nomination for HHS. Well that is a breath of fresh... wait what?
article said:
Pence said in a statement that Kennedy’s nomination was an “abrupt departure from the pro-life record of our administration and should be deeply concerning to millions of Pro-Life Americans who have" long supported Republicans. If confirmed, Pence added, Kennedy “would be the most pro-abortion Republican appointed secretary of HHS in modern history.”
:picardfacepalm:

Everyone saying this is the end sounds like hyperbole... but when the guy who thinks 5G is controlling people's behavior is up for HHS and the reason a Republican is against him is because of reproductive rights, got to start thinking the word hyperbole itself might be the exaggeration.

What drug development does the FDA do? They're just approval.

And note that the line between chronic and infectious diseases isn't remotely clear cut. The most widely known case is HPV and cancer, but it's not the biggest one. And it's a field we are only recently starting to look at, we are seeing a growth curve. Obviously it will infect sometime but when you see a sharply rising growth curve you can conclude the end value will be well above the current value. How many chronic diseases are infectious diseases in disguise?

(And I've noticed many anecdotes about cancer showing behavior that looks suspiciously like infection. Cancer clearly isn't transmissible but that doesn't mean it can't be a virus that doesn't have any noticeable symptoms other than cancer. Two of the dangerous HPV strains usually have no symptoms.)

I think my favorite is that gun violence is caused by anti-depressants. :image:
People suffer from mental illness.
Person that suffer from mental illness that takes medication shoots people.
Person with untreated mental illness shoots people.

Must be the medication!

corrected spelling

You know cause and effect. See they are doing "science"

Well, if it kills off a bunch of old people in Florida then I’ll just laugh at them as they lie dying in the streets. Especially if he cuts Medicare as well. The last thing they’ll hear is me cackling, “You voted for this turd.”

I'm ready to get the 'Don't blame me, I voted Harris/Walz' bumper sticker.

But first, we need to wait to see if the GOP in the Senate officially no longer has a spine. This was the one thing I hated about the Trump Admin first time around, the day to day shit-fest. What was it going to be this day.?

Biden is President and nothing insane is happening. Nope, with Trump's second term... will the GOP confirm RFK Jr. Will RFK Jr. kill vaccine mandates (can he actually do it or are schools empowered to decide themselves... and then the fucking court cases to adjudicate it)? What is Gaetz going to do? Just high will the tariffs be? When will Trump have a secret meeting with Putin and create the Peace Deal that is 'take it or leave it'?

This is the price you have to pay for a democrat party that foisted an unelectable candidate that offered nothing on the voters and all that went on before you got to this stage.

Likely it will be more Trump voters who will pay once they realize what tariffs actually are, how vaccines actually protect their children, and how much the services they rely on are provided through federal funding.

House Speaker Johnson confirms Matt Gaetz report is as bad or worse than we think.
article said:
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) said Friday that the House Ethics Committee should not release its report on former congressman Matt Gaetz (R-Florida), a significant reversal that could shape the confirmation fight.

“I’m going to strongly request the Ethics Committee not to release the report because that is not the way we do things in the House,” Johnson said. “And I think that would be a terrible precedent.”
Gaetz has America's most punchable face. And he makes Ted Cruz look beloved in Congress. Gaetz could use any bit of positive press he could get to normalize his nomination as Attorney General. The House Ethics Report, would be the perfect thing to clear his name and reputation. Clearly it doesn't.
