RFK Jr. Says He'll Send People Taking Adderall To Labor Camps

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., independent challenger for president and anti-vaccine activist, has a cockamamie solution for drug addicts and people who use medication for depression or ADHD: strip people of their tech gadgets and send them to government-funded "wellness farms" to grow organic food.

Doesn't that sound suspiciously like... a labor camp?!

Kennedy extolled this unworkable idea during a video-taped podcast last week billed as a "Latino Town Hall," first flagged by Mother Jones.

"I’m going to create these wellness farms where they can go to get off of illegal drugs, off of opiates, but also illegal drugs, other psychiatric drugs, if they want to, to get off of SSRIs, to get off of benzos, to get off of Adderall, and to spend time as much time as they need — three or four years if they need it — to learn to get reparented, to reconnect with communities," he said during the broadcast.

Interesting how some conservatives will claim they "support the science" and then do things like, refuse to accept there are certain psychiatric conditions which REQUIRE medications, and can't simply be unlearned. And before anyone says "but it's voluntary!" yes, so is faith healing, doesn't make it any less bullshit or exploitative.

I have a foreboding that his confirmation will end early simply because no one will want to listen to that creaking, raspy voice for more than 5 minutes, if that. It's like listening to a deaf relative rocking on a 115-year-old rocking chair or to a carpenter pulling nails out of a haymow.
Sen. Warren: What I am getting at, is your specific reaction to the vaccine which brought covid to an effective end, starting in early 2021. Can you specify what issues you have with that?

He's against pain meds too. I guess I'm in trouble because I've been taking an opioid for pain for over 5 years and I'm still alive and well otherwise. In fact, I just lowered the dose recently as one builds up a tolerance to pain meds over time and they stop helping. For the vast majority of people, narcotic pain relievers simply decrease the pain to some extent so they can have some quality life. And, NSAIDS are potentially dangerous for older adults. My sister has taken all kinds of anti-depressants and anti anxiety meds, aka benzos for most of her adult life, and so does my neighbor and the very nice Trump supporting neighbor who lives across the street takes a control drug for pain too. I do wonder if he realizes he made a mistake yet. All of us are in our 70s.. Will we have to work on the farm or will we be age exempt? Or will doctors be forbidden from ordering any of these drugs in the future. That'll work. ;)

Apparently the worm brain ate a lot more of his brain then was originally suspected. So, now we have another mentally disturbed idiot who could be in a powerful position. As far as chemicals in food goes, Congress could have done something about that a long time ago, but they are controlled by big business, so they certainly don't want to tell those who manufacture processed foods, that they need to cut back on artificial colors and other chemicals that make the food more enticing to some people.

Is Trump trolling us with these appointments, literally trying to burn down the country, testing the loyalty of the idiotic Republicans in the Senate, seeing how much he can get away with, or is just so plain fucking stupid that he has no idea how dangerous his choices are? Maybe all of the above.

RFK Jr with his anti-vax positions and quack beliefs about food and medicine is 100% exactly the opposite of who should be in charge of HHS. Hopefully, his nomination doesn't come to fruition.

That’s exactly why Trump nominated him. The plan is to tear down government institutions or at least through them into enough chaos as to make them impotent.

Has anyone mentioned the guy who may be in charge of the NIH? I'm sharing this article, so read the entire thing if you want to learn more about another guy who doesn't sound fit to lead the agency he may be in charge of. Nowhere as bad as JFK jr. but highly criticized by some of his contemporaries. I know there has been criticism of the COVID shut downs, but I read that this year, Georgia's test scores in public school have risen significantly, so it probably was a short term issue.

When three academics in October 2020 insisted it was time to roll back coronavirus lockdowns — writing an open letter known as the Great Barrington Declaration that attracted hundreds of thousands of signatures — public health leaders rebuked their proposal as premature. Francis S. Collins, then director of the National Institutes of Health, privately dismissed the authors as “fringe” experts and called for a “take down” of their suggestions to reopen schools and businesses, according to emails subsequently released under the Freedom of Information Act.

Now, one of the authors of that declaration Jay Bhattacharya, a Stanford physician and economist — appears poised for a top government health role, perhaps as head of NIH itself. Bhattacharya is a strong candidate to lead the nearly $50 billion agency in the coming Trump administration, with his name on an internal list of contenders being compiled by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., according to four people who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations. Kennedy was selected Thursday by President-elect Donald Trump to run the Department of Health and Human Services, which oversees NIH.
The rise of Bhattacharya — from being scorned by the nation’s NIH director to possibly occupying his office four years later — reflects how the backlash to coronavirus policies has helped reshape conservative politics and elevate new voices. While Collins and other public health experts maintain that the Great Barrington Declaration’s ideas were rash and would have put vulnerable people at risk, many Americans have come to believe that school shutdowns and other pandemic-related policies lasted too long.

“We need to have an honest conversation about how a handful of prominent contrarian academics backed by corporate interests continue to tank evidence-backed policy, including COVID-19 protections,” Mallory Harris, a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Maryland who received her PhD in biology from Stanford this year, wrote last month in the Stanford Daily, the university’s student newspaper.
Harris, who led a Stanford student group focused on combating scientific misinformation, said in an interview that she believed Bhattacharya’s supporters, who include libertarian and conservative think tanks, were pushing policies that favored business interests rather than public health — one reason she is opposed to his candidacy for a government role.

A Florida city voted this week to remove fluoride from its drinking water, with one city commissioner citing Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s past comments on the matter as one of the reasons.

“I’ll tell you that after the recent election, President Trump has named Mr. Kennedy to be his H-something-something director, and Mr. Kennedy has made it well known and has publicly said that he wants fluoride out of the water around the entire country,” said Dantzler, who voted in favor to remove fluoride, according to WFLA.

Maybe we need to start spreading our own conspiracies since this is what the MAGA crowd seems to respond to.

RFK Jr. is being directed by the dental lobby to remove fluoride from the nation's water supply so that dentists can get wealthy on fixing the rotting teeth of America's children. It has been shown that fluoride in appropriately small amounts in the water leads to children having on average two fewer cavities and no negative long term health effects.

RFK Jr. is being directed by the medical lobby to get rid of vaccines so that they can earn much more money treating sick people from infectious diseases. Also, there is an elite cabal that wants to get rid of vaccines as a way to help depopulate the earth.

That’s just Step #1.
The teeth rot out and then guess what they get?
IMPLANTS!
Do you think those kids or their parents really know what is being implanted in those implants??!! Leon Musk’s AI chips! That’s what.

I wonder if they'll ever let RFK Jr. in the same room with Chris Wright.

Remember when the right wing talking heads were outraged by the Obama administration and Michelle Obama in particular when they were focused on health and reducing obesity? Well now they've totally changed their tune. Hannity now supports Eurpoean style food regulations:

Also a good compilation near the end of a bunch of nutty and dangerous things RFK Jr. has said.

I’m sure that making our foods healthier will only make them cheaper, especially after deporting all the farm workers. Woohoo!!

And I’m sure that the smaller, more efficient government with less funding that we will soon have won’t be needed to regulate the food industry to ensure healthy products because corporations always work for the best interests of their customers. MAGA!!!

This could be fun to watch. RFK Jr. has been quite the critic of "Big Ag" and their reliance on things like GMO seeds and pesticides. It'll be interesting to see what happens when the suits from Monsanto, Tyson, Cargill and others show up in his DC office and patiently and firmly explain to him how this whole thing works. Their lobbyists exert enormous influence over Congress, and if he messes with their business model, he's not gonna have a good time.

Eh. It may help with population reduction on the conservative side of the aisle.

Hopefully.

Regardless of crazy anti-vaxxers, you have to admit that capitalism and health stuff is a perfect combination for capitalism only.

A man, grandson of a well off prominent person , ran for state senate a few years ago He ran a campaign against illegal aliens and drugs. research came out he owned a cannabis farm up in Colorado and had hired illegal help. 😄 He lost, but just barely

It is like generally public believe if youvare rich you are entitled to not have to follow any rules.

What caused him to lose? Hiring illegal aliens? Falsifying e-verify paperwork?
Growing pot wasn’t enough to offset the damage from doing these things?
Lots of people hire illegal aliens for temp jobs. But if you actually employ them you gotta fill out forms and make statements that get you in trouble if they’re not true.

It used to be a Democratic value to support health and welfare over corporate profits. That is no longer the case anymore. The Republicans used to actually be the opposition party of billionaires and corporate profits over health and welfare.....but since MAGA took them over, Republicans are the ones who represent the people now.

Is RFK jr. really a loon? I don't know and you don't either. Science used to be truthful but it isn't anymore now that politics has inserted itself with profits. I know I sure like large corporations being put on notice people like RFK jr. will be expecting health over their profits. The Democrats wouldn't be doing anything except offering Monsanto more blow jobs. And if Monsanto and others shit their pants over this, you might be pleased them making less profits could be a good thing for your own health.

It not as though America doesn't have unhealthy people, rampant autism (including my own son), and a host of other drug addiction that actually needs attention by our government.

I say lets see if RFK jr. actually does a good job and then start bitching about what he is trying to do. Its too early to complain about him yet.
