Do Gods Exist?

What has this actually got to do with what I wrote and you quoted?

Nothing.

Please address the point.

If a religion were to form around Superman, would that make the Superman story literally true? if no, why not? If yes, why?

Fake assed science altered reality for over half a century so why couldn't the same be done with Superman or that idiot you're always on about?

And why couldn’t the same be done with those idiots you’re always on about, namely Jehovah and Christ? This is what you continue to evade.

It’s icy and snowy here and this morning after leaving the house I nearly slipped and fell. I just did regain my footing. A silly materialist would say that my inner balance, an entirely materialist biochemical thing, kicked in and righted me. But that shows how much they know. In reality, Superman saved me. Because he has super speed, I didn’t see him fly past and prop me up just in time, without my even be able to feel it, and then he soundlessly whooshed away. Praise Superman! :notworthy:

So projecting the conditioned contents of your own mind onto reality is reality itself? So you are actually a solipsist?

I'm not anything so of course can't provide independent evidence that I am. Can you provide independent evidence that I am?
Well, your profile post that everyone loves what you say is probably a pretty good piece of objective evidence of solipsism…

“RIS profile post” said:
Well, so far everyone thinks I'm doing an excellent job, as usual.

Your idea that you don’t adhere to any religion while preaching from the bible is a close second…

Does that mean that people live in different realities? In any case, their actions and the sources they use to justify their views of reality indicate that they do.

Of course they do. My reality is hugely different than that of a starving child in Afr

I used to work in an office with an ardent Mormon, a Catholic, and a JW. When things got slow and boring I would start up a religious argument and watch the three of them battle it out, while I, an outspoken atheist, was mostly ignored. It was entertaining. If it gives you any satisfaction, I found the JW the most interesting of those three. The JW seemed to scorn the Catholic most of all.

I was going to dive into questions on some of the below, but decided they would be better as a separate topic. I’m starting new threads for them:
1. What does it mean to follow a “holy book” but claim to not adhere to any religion
2. On Supernatural Topics, How Do You Know What You “Know”?

so far. First, I wouldn't join any organized religion, church or political group.

Well, since his book advises us to kill witches, kill family members if they try to push a new religion, lets us own people as property, tells us to execute disobedient sons....wwwwhat the fuck is abhorrent to him?
Oh, I know. Eating shellfish.

Instead of criticizing what you don't understand, or regurgitating dumb atheist propaganda, why not investigate that stuff for yourself.

Why did he do those things? Making up stupid shit isn't an answer, even if it does validate your ideology.

Also, how do you know what you wrote above is true? What supporting evidence do you have, keeping in mind that the bible cannot logically provide evidence of its own veracity?

Why not?

You can find online a whole Catholic tutorial on deconverting JW’s.

It is rather amusing, especially since RIS finds science “dumb.” Imagine if science were like that. You’d have schismatic relativity theorists, with one doctrine preaching time dilation and length contraction, but another doctrine preaching that time dilation is OK but length contraction is absolutely forbidden as a matter of doctrine.

And, as a matter of fact, if one finds the relativity idea above inane, I once corresponded online with an engineer who insisted that time dilation was true but length contraction false. He was impervious to all the reasons, even given the physicist Don Lincoln, why you can’t have one without the other.

"Over half a century" puts us back to 1973 and earlier. What are these fakeries you're referring to? Even a short list would do (curious to know, not baiting you.)

In this particular instance I refer to the video provided. Fat.

True balance, of course, is simply a matter of letting not too little, and not too much Superman into your life. You certainly don’t want to fall out a window while Superman is busy somewhere else. It’s tragic how often that happens. Houses of worship, including Superman’s Fortress of Solitude* are full of walking dead.

Doctrinally, each of us has a Guardian Superman, a mini-invisible Superman who watches over and protects us. When we actually fall out of a window and die, it’s not that our Guardian Superman failed; on the contrary, it is we who failed, by neglecting to attend worship services regularly at the Fortress of Solitude, for Superman is a vengeful god who demands worship.

I can easily see a thousand years from now Supermanists conducting expeditions to the Arctic to find the sacred Fortress of Solitude, even as today many true believers regularly look for Noah’s Ark in Turkey or wherever.

I don't care enough about the subject to invest time in the video. So I'll just ask my real question.
What about the video gives it credibility to you? Eating a diet lower in fat than the typical American diet makes perfect sense to me. And, in my experience, people who eat a healthy diet live longer and better lives than people who don't.

Referring to the concept of a low fat diet as "fake assed science" , or however you described it, sounds ridiculous to me. One reason that this is important to me is that more and more commonly people make claims about what is or isn't healthy. Not just the diet, worse is the fake assed science people use to discourage vaccines. That's killed a bunch of people.

Indeed. I believe that many such fatalities occur when the victim is impaled upon their very own Tiny Man of Steel, who was trying to stop their fall. Very messy.

It's just part and parcel of his abject failure to understand what science is.

He conflates the US Government with science; Despite my having posted a detailed explanation of what science is, and why so many people don't grasp the difference between science and all the other authoritarian (and ultimately religion derived) "education" we get (including from government departments).

He is upset that the US Govt. might be using the wrong book to determine what science has to say on the subject of fat in our diets.

Because he thinks science is just another set of books we might choose to elevate above the book he prefers.

For the Abrahamic God, yes. The rest of the words religions so called Gods are explained in Erich von Däniken's book Chariot of the Gods.
