2 dead, 8 or ao wounded, 1 critical. This time, a Mormon church is attacked. Attacker's truck had two US flags very notably flying from tge front of his truck's cab, a truck he slammed into the church before opening fire metaphorically and then literally.

Trump provided his typical wisdom aiming to get leftists murdered.

NBC is saying that the attacker was an ex-Marine who served with distinction in Iraq, so the American flags on his truck are not much of a surprise. Thomas Jacob Sanford. About my age, has a wife and a 10 year old kid.

The president of the Mormon Church also died today as it happens, and earlier in the day the internet rumor mill was asserting that the shocking news of the shooting was what did him in, but it turns out he'd alreayd been dead a few hours before the shooting (he was 101, so death would not have been a surprising happenstance for him on any particular day).

Total five dead, including the shooter, so far.

The church itself was totally engulfed in the fire so there may still be more victims in the wreckage.

Fucking horrific is what it is. The testimony of those who were in the church at the time sounds like war coverage.

from the Times:

Kristin Juarez, 54, thought the steeple had fallen down when she heard the boom. Then a member of the congregation was telling everyone to flee, and gunshots were ringing out.

She became separated from her husband, John, in the commotion, and hid in a bathroom, where she heard more bursts of gunfire from outside.

“I thought, ‘If I have to die, it’s OK,’” Ms. Juarez said. “I feel good about where I am. And then I heard my husband’s voice, and he was calling for me.”

John Juarez, 57, said he returned to the building after helping fellow congregants carry someone who had been shot outside. When he went back in, he saw another person lying wounded on the floor.

“I didn’t know what I could do for him,’’ Mr. Juarez said. “I couldn’t get him out on my own.’’

Searching for his wife, he called out her name and heard her respond. The couple left the building and took shelter in a ditch across the road.

As they passed the truck that had been driven into the church, he said, he saw that the driver’s side door was open.

The engine was still running, Mr. Juarez said.

The couple held hands as they spoke to a reporter on McCandlish Road near the meeting house. Mr. Juarez’s left sleeve was stained with dried blood.

Hmmmmm.
Of course, this doesn't speak to motive. It just means it is likely that he didn't do this because George Soros said to, or whatever fucking narrative the Trump Admin and DoJ are trying to push with these awful attacks.

There would be little in being a Trump supporter that'd drive one to attack the LDS church. Granted some Christians don't think Mormons are Christians, so that could be part of the motive, or he could be just another mentally ill person that did something awful.

So let me get this straight, this was some extremist conservative terrorist from a rural area and he was a veteran?

Conservatives: "Poor guy. He was mentally ill. Probably had PTSD. Also, somehow I am going to blame the left for this. Send the marines into cities!"

Conservatives: "Oh yeah. Also, Thoughts and Prayers to the victims' families."

There's also the fact that they don't actually care about "mental illness", and just want to lock up the mentally ill and forget about them (either that, or force them to convert to Christianity).

His motivations aren't known. He was killed at the scene, and his friends and neighbors seem completely baffled that he would do something like this. I presume he was a conservative, or he probably wouldn't have a Trump flag in front of his house, nor would his suburban Michigan neighbors be likely to describe him as "normal" in interviews, but that doesn't mean his conservativism motivated this violence.

It does seem like he meant to kill everyone in the church though, not just one person he was angry at, etc. You don't drive a truck into a building and set the builiding on fire over a personal grudge. Right-wing conspiracy about Mormons and the Illuminati? Left-wing epiphany that the church had been lying to him about his suppressed homosexual feelings being a sin? Had a mental break and thought he was back in Fallujah shooting Muslims? All three? We'll likely never know, because he is now dead and not able to elucidate his reasoning anymore.

We do know there is a higher chance of conservatives having psychopathic traits, however.

The shooter was very anti LDS.
🙄
Nobody creates anti-christs like people suffering from christianism.
Boggles my mind. Killing for Jesus?
Why aren’t they content with overturning some tables, like Jesus supposedly did?

Flip over a money changing table? What are you, a socialist?

Seems like this guy wasn't paid by Soros. To be determined if he was simply burned out, suffering from mental illness, or a, dare I say... deplorable guy who felt like it was time to take action.
article said:
Jason Allen, a Burton resident, told CNN that even locals who didn’t personally know Sanford recognized his truck.

With flags flying from the back as Sanford drove it through town, “you couldn’t miss the truck,” Allen said. Sometimes, he said, Sanford would “switch one of his flags out for a ‘F*** Biden’ flag.”

Some people who suffer from severe combat related PTSD suffer from violent tendencies, while others suffer from guilt. While I could be wrong, I wouldn't be surprised if his combat experience messed up his mind and made him have violent tendencies. Not everything is political, so let's not sound as crazy as the other side. PTSD can make a person crack. Plus his hatred of Mormons sounds pretty nuts, so perhaps he had some underlying mental issues regardless if they were related to his combat experience or something else.

Guns are the real problem! Too many unstable and/or careless people own guns.

I am listening to the video posted. Yeah. Let's all pray because nothing fails like prayer. Thoughts and prayers always works until the next day when some other nut job decides he needs to murder a bunch of people. :(
