Climate Change(d)?

Al Gore is not a scientist.
That is the most ridiculous critique of climate science I have ever heard. Why would it make one whit of difference, unless he were the source of climate data?

Also, there are plenty of actual scientists in this thread and you are ignoring us all in favor of trusting conservative talking heads who don't know shit about anything.

Much like scoldilocks Greta, Al Gore was revered for pushing the “climate crisis” agenda. A couple of phonies that had far too much influence in the news. “ How dare you” indeed.

Also, there are plenty of actual scientists in this thread and you are ignoring us all in favor of trusting conservative talking heads who don't know shit about anything.

Which conservative talking heads do I trust? What are you on about now?

It really is a religion for you lot. An end of times cult. You have an unshakable belief in the “climate crisis” despite zero evidence for it.

Al Gore is not a scientist.

Add that to the list. (y)

Gore was not a scientist, so what? You are incapable of following simple explanations. It does not tale a scientist to undershorts how a greenhouse works,

Roman gardeners used the earliest proto-greenhouse system around 30 AD to grow a daily supply of a cucumber-like vegetable for Emperor Tiberius.

The Earth and its atmosphere are a greenhouse. There are natural greenhouse gases. The greenhouse effect is what makes life possible on Earth, otherwise the surface would be cold. The climate problem the added human greenhouse gases are increasing temperatures above what was te equilbrium point. A balance between solar heat radiation absorbed by the Earth and heat radiated out into space.

When you are stand away from a fire and feel the heat, that is heat radiation. When you stand in the Sunlight and get warm, that is from solar radiation. You reradiate heat as you get warm. All objects on the surface do. Greenhouse gases trap some of radiated heat from your body.

Do you understand how a greenhouse works and that the Earth is effectively a greenhouse?

#7, haven't seen that one in a while.

The TSwizzle Guide To Climate Change

1. This obsession with carbon really needs to stop.
2. This obsession with CO2 is coming to an end.
3. Teh Gruaniad says
4. It is a catastrophic f(ill in the temperature) degrees today.
5. He’s a cultlist.It is a catastrophic 73 degrees in Santa Monica today
6. It really is a rapture like cult.
7. It really is a religion for you.
8 You are dumber than I thought
9. Climate always changes.
10. Human activity has very little impact on the climate compared to what occurs naturally.
11. CO2 does not control the earth’s climate.
12. Net Zero is sold as the only thing that will save the planet from the climate apocalypse
13. I’d rather discuss science with Christians
14, Climate change is propaganda pushed by politicians and activists.
15. Scientists are climate atavists, ergo climate science is wrong,
16. The climate "scientists" have been predicting climate catastrophe for decades. No catastrophes, we are still here.
17 🙄
18. An imperceptible rise in the global average temperature is nothing to obsess about.

Gore is a grifter and yet him and his awful movie was promoted by dunces as being some sort of authority on climate science.

Gore is a grifter
Wait - WHAT?
You LOVE grifters!
You VOTED for a guy who takes down more taxpayer money grifting with the blessing of fools like you every fucking day, than an army of Al Gores would amass in a lifetime.
What hypocrisy!

Yes, post politics Gore became a face for climate change awareness. So what? I don't know if I'd use the word revered. He had plenty of critics on the left and by climate activists.

Bringing up Gore does not make your case. Until you brought him up I had completely forgoten about him.

Here you go: https://iidb.org/search/1861027/?q=Gore&t=post&c[thread]=24400&o=relevance

That's a seach of this thread for all mentions of "Gore". About a third of them are posted by you. The vast majority of the rest are people responding to you by saying that Al Gore is not an authority, not a scientist, and/or not relevant.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find one single solitary post in there, by anyone other than yourself, wherein Al Gore is claimed as an authority or a scientist.

Should you fail in this mission, or choose not to undertake it, please feel free to shut the fuck up.

Al Gore is the one who launched the “climate crisis” cult into being. He even managed to get his movie into schools. And then there is Greta, who convinced another generation of dunces onto the “climate crisis” nonsense.

Are you saying that you personally had never heard of climate science before Al Gore's post-political advocacy career? If so, I assure you that the rest of us were much better and earlier informed. You need to watch less TV, it is rotting your brain.

I never paid much attention to Gore or Thornberg.

You are giving Gor way too much vcredit.

Scientific concerns over long term effects of air polution goes back to the 19th 19th cabinetry and large scale burni9ng of coal. Tox icair pollution in cityies. London Fog.

The Great Smog was a severe air pollution event that affected London, England, in December 1952. A period of unusually cold weather, combined with an anticyclone and windless conditions, collected airborne pollutants—mostly arising from the use of coal—to form a thick layer of smog over the city. It lasted from Friday, 5 December, to Tuesday, 9 December 1952, then dispersed quickly when the weather changed.[4][5]

Again you must not be paying attention to global news. Rising sea levels is catastrophic on islands and coastal communicates.

Warming is affecting agriculture in the USA right now.

There probably has been hyperbole on an alleged looming catastrophe, but no one I am aware of from science is predicting that.

We humans and all surface life depend on ocean life. Warming seas is harming sea life. In the long run it is a danger for us humans.

Civilizations have collapsed quickly in history for a number of reasons. One reason is exhausting resources.

As I understand it regional climate change affected the Mayan food supply. They went from a highly nutritious diverse diet to something less diverse and nutritious. Mayans collapsed very quickly. Tyhey had a sophisticated system and economy. In modern terms they had suburbs and shopping malls.

We are repeating an historical cycle, this time on a global scale.

My view fr a long tie is the global economic paradigm with population growth is not sustainable.

At some point economic growth along with climate change will lead to food and water shortages. A population decrease.

If you think we are not observing climate change in real time you must not be watching global reportage.

All I read on this thread are gripes about the weather and blaming it on “climate change”.
Rinse and repeat since the thread was started five years ago.
You fail to realize that the most obvious manifestation of climate change is increased severity of weather.

Warmer water puts more energy into storm systems.

Standard conservative error. Shoot the messenger as if that somehow makes the problem go away.

I don't care what Gore had to say about it. I certainly don't care what Greta has to say about it. I look at the science, not the popular press. The popular press always gets the science wrong.

(And these days you have to be careful even with the science on any politically sensitive issue. The stuff meant to manipulate stands out and thus is much more likely to get attention. Thus the rate of deception in stuff that shows up in discussions is far above the rate of deception in general.)

Well good for you. But unfortunately lots of other people did and still do.

King Charles of England, also not a scientist. Pope what’s his name, also not a scientist.

The grifter keeps grifting 20 years on.

When asked by ABC News chief meteorologist and chief climate correspondent Ginger Zee whether the film and its predictions on global warming hold up, Gore responded, "Unfortunately, yes. The scientists were dead right on all the important elements of it, and it really is insane that we are continuing to use the sky as an open sewer and we're trapping so much heat every day it's equal to the amount that would be released by 800,000 Hiroshima-class atomic bombs exploding every day on the earth," Gore said during an interview with ABC News

Clown. 🤡

Enough of the diversions and red herrings.

1. Do you understand how a backyard greenhouse works?

2. Do you understand that the atmosphere of the planet acts like a greenhouse creating temperatures that allow for life?

3. Do you understand that without natural greenhouse gases in the atmosphere the Earth would be frozen?

Can you abswer?

The earth’s atmosphere is a bit more sophisticated than a backyard greenhouse.

I’ve had enough of this nonsense for now.

Carry on worshipping Gore and Greta.

Basic physics;

"Earth’s climate has changed over the past century. The atmosphere and oceans have warmed, sea levels have risen, and glaciers and ice sheets have decreased in size. The best available evidence indicates that greenhouse gas emissions from human activities are the main cause. Continuing increases in greenhouse gases will produce further warming and other changes in Earth’s physical environment and ecosystems.

The science behind these statements is supported by extensive studies based on four main lines of evidence:

Physical principles established more than a century ago tell us that certain trace gases in the atmosphere, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and water vapour, restrict the radiant flow of heat from Earth to space. This mechanism, known as the ‘greenhouse effect’, keeps Earth’s surface and lower atmosphere considerably warmer than they would otherwise be.

The gases involved are called ‘greenhouse gases’. An increase in greenhouse gas concentrations raises the temperature of the surface. The record of the distant past(millions of years) tells us that climate has varied greatly through Earth’s history. It has, for example, gone through ten major ice age cycles over approximately the past million years.

Over the last few thousand years of this period, during which civilisations developed, climate was unusually stable. Evidence from the past confirms that climate can be sensitive to small persistent changes, such as variations in Earth’s orbit.

Measurements from the recent past (the last 150 years) tell us that Earth’s surface has warmed as atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gases increased through human activities, and that this warming has led to other environmental changes.

Although climate varies from decade to decade, the overall upward trend of average global surface temperature over the last century is clear.Climate models allow us to understand the causes of past climate changes, and to project climate change into the future.

Together with physical principles and knowledge of past variations, models provide compelling evidence that recent changes are due to increased greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere.

They tell us that, unless greenhouse gas emissions are reduced greatly and greenhouse gas concentrations are stabilised, greenhouse warming will continue to increase."
