2026 Mid-Term Elections

I get that Trump just has an in with his supporters and how to get them to get out and vote.

But when talking in Ohio in order to save a GOP seat from a Democrat takeover where the Democrat has been consistently ahead... (and the GOP is abandoning targeting OH-1) talking about how good a female Indiana professional basketball player looks wouldn't seem to be on target. But maybe this is what the base needs to overlook the whole gasoline is $4 a gallon in Ohio thing. Pretty woman who plays basketball in neighboring state.

I'm just guessing here, but I don't think she is getting a callup to the state legislature from the District 4 seat in Fayette County Indiana, presuming she even wins it. That county looks quite red.

You seem to be arguing with someone who is saying we need to move the US to a socialist form of government.
I think the meme argues that.
And what of your handle? Isn't it inspired by this?
Contributions-in-Political-Science-Jimmy-Higgins-The-Mental-World-of-the-American-Rank-And-File-Communist-1930-1958-Book-207-Hardcover-9780313262463_e2fed04f-33d3-4164-a746-656d245efb41.d286e610df3fdc118ca204498d344718.jpeg

I'm not saying that. I'm saying that capitalism in America is not what you think it apparently is. And when it gets closer to being more "capitalistic" things go bad, terribly bad.
What do you think I think it is? 100% laissez-faire? No, I do not think that. I also think that reasonable regulations are useful and important.
2008 was the end of the road. Money was about to freeze. You literally were going to be left with what was in your wallet. I'd call that a full blown collapse.
While things would have been more painful without the bailouts, I do not think it would have led to a collapse. Of course, we can't run counterfactual scenarios.
Capitalism in the US has been reined in quite a bit since the turn of the 20th Century via socialistic ideals.
I would not call them socialistic ideals. Words have meanings, and should not be watered down. For example, DSA know what socialism is, but they benefit from many people not knowing what it entails, and also never reading DSA constitution where they spell out that they reject private profits and want to impose public ownership of means of production.
Public utilities, minimum wage, unions, corporate regulation. Capitalism didn't give in to any of this easily.
That does not make them socialistic either. And unions are a double-edged sword. Yes, few workers in the US are unionized, but where they are, those unions are often overly powerful, which is not good either. See the longshoremen. They are not only grossly overpaid for what their job is, but they also successfully blocked port modernization and automation. With the result that US ports lag behind Rotterdam and even Shanghai.

Unfortunately for the rest of us, Frank Sobotka won ...

Just reported that that the RNC will cease contributing to the Republican candidate for governor here in Michigan. Apparently they think their money can be better spent elsewhere.

DOJ sues California after pushing state to match voter list with USB drive

The Department of Justice (DOJ) sued the state of California on Thursday after giving it a USB drive and demanding that within 48 hours it compare 20,000 names its data rolls with information provided by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The DOJ sent the letter to the state and local election officials Tuesday, threatening legal action if they did not cross-reference the data. According to a copy of the letter provided by Los Angeles County, the letter included a handwritten password to access the files on the thumb drive.

In its suit, the DOJ said it “sent relevant California officials a list of over 20,000 names of people the Federal Government believes are likely noncitizens who were sent a vote-by-mail ballot from California to participate in the federal election.”

“If California was unable to independently confirm the citizenship of people on that list, the Federal Government asked that California set aside ballots received from them until the person’s citizenship was confirmed.”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) criticized the suit, noting that the request runs afoul of voting procedures, including those limiting action in the weeks before an election.
The desperation is becoming quite clear.

Unknown thumb drive. What could go wrong?

The last list the Feds sent containing hundreds of thousand of names was completely bogus. Not one entry on the list was ineligible to vote.

It looks like Republicunt gerrymanders forgot it takes two. Cracking and Packing. They did the cracking and spread out honest voters but forgot that if you are such evil vile cunts normies will vote along with such libtards.

Or at least that is my hope.

Hopefully on stopping Musim Brotherhood Abdulrahman.
So you've fallen for the bullshit reporting too.

Good God, man. (DeForest Kelly voice) Don't give Trump ideas.
Too late. There is a vid of Zelenskyy in the oval office telling that to Rump. And Rump responded, 'so if there's a war you cant have elections'.
You could see the gears moving in his head.
We have had wars before. Never stopped elections. Not even the Civil War. And if not on US soil, there is no reason it should.

Our system of economics is teetering set of capitalistic and socialistic ideals, because neither of the two sets of ideals alone is remotely compatible with how people operate.

Polls be polling.

Latest poll out of Arkansas indicates that Hell is not to freeze over. Cotton is up 9 points on the Democrat. This is the same pollster that had the Democrat up by several points in August. So precision might not be an in-house specialty.

Michigan continues to drag out these nonsense 5 to 10+ pt undecided dumbass polls. Reports indicate the GOP is giving up on the MI Governor Race, which likely will have some coat tails. Michigan shouldn't be as hard a victory as we aren't looking for Republicans to vote Democrat unlike Texas. Regardless, this state sucks with these polls.

Ohio is likewise, with 5% undecided being a lucky poll. More between 5 to 15% undecided. Ohio has been the red side of purple, so despite Brown leading in almost every poll, we are far from certain.

Far less than in North Carolina and Georgia. So Trump has cost the GOP at least one seat in having Tillis leave.

Texas is following a closer to Michigan path, with the exception that Talarico needs red votes to win. I'm continuing to see the same thing regarding race. While Hispanics are swinging from the 50/50 with Harris, it isn't a huge swing, but with White swinging left, there is an accumulating impact. Elon Musk is dumping money into Texas like he doesn't need a tax cut. InsiderAdvantage has skewed more to the red party. Time will tell if they have a better model. It is the only poll Paxton is leading in and the other polls are saying Paxton is losing the suburbs which would imply the election as well.

Iowa is back and forth, but that just feels like the blue polls are missing something and Iowa is going to be closer, but not close enough. But there is a Governor race, and the Democrat is winning in that.

Kansas and Nebraska are both within the margin of error and flopping back and forth.

Maine has Jackson at 49 to 50 percent. But Collins always comes back,

New Hampshire, it wasn't too long ago when it looked like the Republican Sununu would win out. But the polls have shown a consistent / strong enough lead. It is interesting that Maine and New Hampshire are not in lockstep.

Alaska has the Democrat ~50.

This election is bonkers. The close states?
  • Very Dark Horses (3)
    • MT (independent)
    • MS (freaking MS?!). Poll says 4 pt lead for GOP incumbent. The GOP losing this would be a disgrace!
    • If MS, then LA who said red diesel is fine... meaning there are electoral concerns.
  • Close States (5)
    • Pink States
      • IA, SC
    • Light Blue States
      • AK, MN, NH
  • Polling Tossups (6)
    • TX, KS, NE, OH, MI, ME
I suppose this is what we want? Competition? Just seems nuts that $6+ a gallon for diesel because the idiot President waltzed the US into a conflict without a freaking plan... makes it 48/52 to 52/48 in Kansas and Nebraska. Well sure... he did make it impossible for us to make a living, but... the Democrats want to turn our children into dogs... and I'm sure this third red scare is for realz!

I sit the Dems at 48, GOP at 46 with TX, KS, NE, OH, MI, ME as unknowns. How in the heck is Ohio and Texas unknown? Well yes, candidate quality. But Kansas and Nebraska? That is some awful leadership. Dems need 4 of the 6 tossups for a Fetterman-proof majority.

So you've fallen for the bullshit reporting too.
No, but you have.
You need to be skeptical of any supposed "fact check" that is predicated on an overly specific claim, in this case restricting it to "pledging support". Even that article acknowledges that Abdulrahman supported the Muslim Brotherhood takeover of Egypt. It also acknowledges that Abdulrahman's father in law is involved with CAIR and ISNA, both of which have ties to MB.

What it doesn't mention is the connections he has to MB through his mother and sister:
El-Sayed’s Troubling Ties
National Review said:
“No,” El-Sayed twice insisted. As the Washington Free Beacon reports, that is not accurate. At least, not according to El-Sayed’s half sister, who proudly noted their mother’s radicalism.
“My family has long been MB,” Eman Abdelhadi, an assistant professor at the University of Chicago who would go on to celebrate the October 7 massacre, wrote of the Muslim Brotherhood in the summer of 2012. “I have had family jailed for being a part of it,” she added a year later. “Praying for all my family that supports the #MB in Egypt. Lie low, stay safe.”
And the article also mentions Abdulrahman's own support for MB takeover of Egypt:
(Abdelhadi’s 2012 post coincided with the accession of Mohamed Morsi, a Muslim Brotherhood ally, to Egypt’s presidency after the 2011 Arab Spring ousted Hosni Mubarak. That November, El-Sayed himself signed an open letter affirming his support for Morsi and calling on the new regime to “purge the media and police.”)
It also delves deeper into his father-in-law's connections:
This isn’t the only family connection to an extremist group. The candidate’s father-in-law, Tayeb Jukaku, a prolific contributor to a pro-El-Sayed super PAC, has similar ties. The Beacon revealed in July that Jukaku has served on the Islamic Society of North America’s founding committee for nearly 20 years. ISNA was cited by federal prosecutors as an unindicted co-conspirator in the famous 2007 prosecution of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, in which its founders were convicted of funneling $12 million to Hamas. Jukaku also served as president of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Michigan chapter in the second half of the aughts, when the group, too, was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land case.

Abdulrahman also spoke at the ISNA conference that featured a number of Islamist extremists:
El-Sayed booked for major Islamic convention alongside clerics with radical pasts
WFMD said:
Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed is slated to speak at the Islamic Society of North America’s (ISNA) annual convention over Labor Day weekend, joining a speaker roster that includes Muslim religious leaders with histories of controversial remarks.
Among the most controversial figures attending the ISNA convention is cleric Baqir Berry, who prayed for “mujahideen” in Palestine and Lebanon, using a term commonly associated with Islamist fighters, and asked God to grant them “a mighty victory.”
Islamic Institute of America head Hassan Qazwini is also attending after appealing to God to “grant victory to our brothers in Iran,” a U.S.-designated state sponsor of terrorism.
Also appearing at the conference is Texas imam Yasir Qadhi, who previously made remarks denying the Holocaust that he later repudiated. Siraj Wahhaj, who was named as a possible co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center terrorism case but never charged, is also scheduled to speak.

So who cares that he never explicitly "pledged support"? He is still an MB sympathizer, a fellow traveler, who is now Dem nominee for US Senate.

And why is AIPAC funding candidates considered so toxic in the Democratic Party, but financial support by Islamist outfits is considered ok?

Another thing about Abdulrahman: he doesn't want Israel to be able to defend itself even when attacked by the likes of Iran:
In Michigan Senate debate, El-Sayed declines to say Iran worse than Israel, or that he’d send defensive weapons to Jewish state

Washington Free Beacon???

:LD:

Washington Free Beacon???

:LD:
I did not even link to them directly, but they were used by one of the articles I posted.
In any case, are you disputing what WFB wrote about Abdulrahman's FIL funding his campaign, or is this pure genetic fallacy? I do not even think the Abdulrahman camp is disputing it.

based on what he is quoted to have said in that article it seems he should appeal to the “America First” Trump crowd because he doesn’t want to support foreign countries or get into wars and to spend money on America. Isn’t that what they claim they want?
Probably how he wants to sound, yes. But given that he is not advocating for example removing support for Ukraine, I think it is pretty obvious that his real motivation is his animosity toward Israel.

For the record, I think we should support both Ukraine and Israel.

Since when do the ideologies of in laws or their “connections” or those of siblings and parents?
Did you stop reading midway, or just incapable of comprehending written word?

While marrying into an Islamist family while having an Islamist birth family is sus in itself, it can be explained away.

What definitely can't be explained away is him receiving monetary support from his Islamist pro-MB FIL, nor him speaking at the Islamist pro-MB conference (ISNA) that his FIL is affiliated with and which featured some speakers that explicitly endorsed Islamic terrorism.
