Which movie did you watch today and how would you rate it?

The Menu. I honestly don't know whether to suggest you watch it. I just want someone to tell me ''why''.

    Joke gallery

We have a Funnies board in our library. Today it had. "I married my wife for her looks, but not the ones she's been giving me lately."

    What are you reading?

I've just finished Miriam Margolyes' autobiography This Much is True and have just started Robin Hobbs' 3rd book in the Rain Wild series. There was a time when, if you highlighted some text and then hit "italicise", that text would be italicised. It is some weeks since that worked for me.

    Things that make you laugh...

You get Pluto, you just don't get bragging rights for it.

    What are you reading?

I've been reading The Life You Can Save, Peter Singer, in the gaps of other reading. Just finished it. It is available as a free spoken book, and presumably an e-book, and I highly recommend reading it. I prefer to hold a book but evidently some quite famous people read chapters. Stephen Fry...

    What are you reading?

Just finished Wolf Hall, Hilary Mantel. Instantly got online and tracked down the sequel. The writing style is a little odd. You have to take a minute to figure out who is talking, and who the author is referring to, but that slows down your reading and is not a bad thing, IMV. I like her...

Thanks, Arctish. That was well worth watching.

    Images that make you laugh

Help me. I nearly died laughing. Edit to add: That image doesn't just make me laugh, I can't get it out of my head. Pizza boxes are probably good fibre.

    What would make you religious?

US, stick to the thread topic (and stop misrepresenting others). I've read the whole thread, and the only person who has used this sort of language is yourself, in that ^ post. And you were too mealy mouthed to use the actual swear words. Try arguing your position in good faith. You might...

    What are you reading?

Bettany's Book. Tom Keneally Keneally writes an entertaining novel and also throws light on issues that need air.

    What would make you religious?

You're right. You'd just be a believer in aliens, if you got to shake hands with one.

Which movie did you watch today and how would you rate it?

The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir. Light and cheerful. 7/10

    What would make you religious?

I would likely be religious today if 5 conditions had been met in my upbringing. 1/. I was raised by people who genuinely believed in a god and 2/. who were New Testament, rather than fire and brimstone Christians and 3/. who practiced what they preached. 4/. I had very little access to...

Essential nutrients - what do we need to eat?

A lot depends on life stage. People have lived with what looks to us like deficiency. They survive, but they don't grow properly. This might be a good place to talk about something that I have never found the explanation for. On one of the Arctic/Antarctic expeditions (Scott, Shackleton ... ?)...

    Star Trek

Watching Wagon Train, as a kid, I saw Hamlet, Macbeth, King Lear, Romeo and Juliet and probably a few more, long before I knew enough about Shakespeare to be able to recognise them. Why waste a universal plot if you're running dry one week? The Orville deals with modern concerns in much the...
