2024 Presidential Election Campaigns

It's the party primaries that I find most obnoxious.

The fixed four-year election cycle means that the parties have the luxury of engaging in a drawn-out public free-for-all among the party's most ambitious wannabes, including televised debates, just to decide which one will be allowed to represent the party in the actual election.

Two years. 2022 elections are next (not counting runoffs like in GA this upcoming January). Governors in some states, 1/3 of the U.S. Senate, all of the House, several other offices around the country. Some are probably starting their campaigns in the near future if they haven't already.

Does anybody really think he will be healthy enough to run in 2024?
More likely, one of his spawn will try to capitalize on the cult of personality.

Mentally healthy, no. Physically healthy, no. As physically and mentally unhealthy as now, yes.

Unless he is killed.

No, just no.

This election has been too stressful to start 2024 already.

:boom:

So sorry - the 2024 Republican campaign started four years ago. Granted, it was premised on the assumption of an incumbent seeking a third, lifetime term and so will need some re-working. But it is well underway.

This might be the first thing I've ever agreed with you on.

Trump is unlikely to run credibly in 2024. He's more likely to get offed by Putin. Putin has a history of assassinating people who don't do what Putin wants.

Much more likely is that his supporters will capitalize on Trump's hold on a small portion of the USA. Possibly his kids and in-laws, but more likely other(more sophisticated users) will step in and take advantage of Trump's legacy of getting his base riled up with deceit and unsupported assertions. There's a lot of power and money to be made there. Trump is now more of an inconvenience than an asset.

The question is whether the prospect of a black female President will be motivating enough to bring out all the Trump voters even if the candidate is someone like Rubio. Or will the Republican primary just get filled with Qanon believers who will clean up over the traditional politicians?
