Well, you can't just cherrypick statistics like that. There's all the ones you've ignored such as:

Number of Communist armies invading America and turning it into a slave state: 0
Number of Al Quaida terrorists taking over the US and implementing sharia law: 0

You can protect people against real threats or you can protect them against irrational boogeyman scenarios. You can't do both and your country has made its choice.

we are over 100% so far for 2015
 
It's all very well talking about the mass gun shootings that happen, but think of the ones that don't happen because of armed civilians! I'm constantly hearing about how even more people would be victims of shootings and violent crimes if it weren't for so many people packing heat.

Feel free to supply your own ad hoc reason for why this logic does not apply to anywhere on the planet outside the USA and why other developed countries don't have sky high levels of armed crimes compared with the states because the citizenry aren't armed to the teeth but the criminals are.

All of us in the US, pro-gun and anti-gun, and I am conflicted about which I am, agree on one point, the US has a culture of violence pretty much second to none. Pro-gunners use this as an excuse not to control guns, "We will just stab each other if we don't have guns" or the old canard "Guns don't kill, people do." And anti-gunners support means that they understand won't be very effective in reducing gun violence in the belief that you have to start somewhere to reduce gun violence, for example, limits on the number of bullets in a clip or banning guns based on how they look.

The question boils down to how do you best reduce the culture of violence? I guess that I have to side with the anti-gunners on this one, the proposals that they put forth may not be very effective in and of themselves, but they do start us in maybe a small way to reducing the culture of violence in the US, in a way that certainly the pro-gunners' arming everyone all of the time everywhere certainly won't.

(I am an Arsenal supporter, possibly the only purple (disabled) member in the US. It not easy for me to say that I side with the anti-gunners.)
 
How many of these "mass shootings" are simply criminals killing more than one other criminal, though?

Most of the children at Sandy Hook Elementary had priors. I understand that all the people in that Aurora, CO movie theater had gotten a traffic ticket.

No you don't; as long as units are always subject to the same algebraic operations as numbers, all is fine.

994 shootings / 1004 days = 0.99 shootings/day = 99% shootings/day. (Which can be expressed in English as 'A mean of 99% of a shooting per day').

So the parade remains dry and sun-kissed.
