Pardon brokers offer to "put pressure on the president" — at sky-high costs

Hidden cameras captured lobbyists as they tried to woo a potential client interested in obtaining a pardon from President Trump.

It was mid-August at the bar inside the plush Ritz-Carlton hotel in Tysons Corner, Virginia, just outside Washington, and Jack Burkman and his business partner Jacob Wohl were making their latest sales pitch. They were seated at a table with Ammon Covino, a convicted felon, and his wife, Crystal.

"With this particular White House, you have to put pressure on the president from all directions in a consistent way to force his hand," Burkman explained. He and Wohl, lobbyists and right-wing provocateurs, had become avatars of a lucrative new cottage industry of brokers courting those seeking pardons from President Trump.

Now, they were zeroing in on the man they hoped would be their next client: Covino, an aquarium operator who served nearly two years in federal prison for illegally transporting a shark and a stingray across state lines.

Covino had already filled out and submitted a pardon application form by mail to the Biden Justice Department. But his request was rejected in July by Mr. Trump, one of thousands of pardon-seekers denied clemency as part of the administration's effort to clear its backlog of applicants.

Trump, through the controlling commission, threatens to bankrupt the Kennedy Center unless they put his name back on it.

The Kennedy Center is in a virtual state of collapse, and has been for many years.
A large piece of concrete and steel just dropped down, in a thud, from the ceiling of a heavily trafficked main hallway.
If the Building were open, innocent people would have been killed. A security guard had just passed the area, one minute prior to this ceiling collapse. He was, therefore, 60 seconds away from certain death.
The Judge has made us keep it open even though there are no performances, and no people that would have the Courage to even go in.
The Board of The Kennedy Center has strongly voted to save it, and they know I’m the only one who can do so, because I have the ability to raise the money, and the ability to construct — that few others have.
I also have the strength and power of the Presidency, which will be needed do what must be done, and give it a strong shot at Greatness again!
Remember, The Kennedy Center was losing Hundreds of Millions of Dollars when I took over. It was failing badly! It had nothing to do with me, I am only there to help. I just got there to reveal the facts, but especially those concerning Building Safety.
A very hostile and conflicted Judge (What else is new?) seems like he won’t let that happen, in which case, unfortunately, the Building is destined to doom.
Isn’t that too bad? We have already wasted more than 6 months “playing around” in Court. Time is our Enemy! The Board, comprised of some of the most prominent and respected people in our Nation, is meeting again today. It will be interesting to see what happens!

His name is a bearing a load of crap.
 
Trump makes the claim the Kennedy Center was losing hundreds of millions of dollars but doesn't explain how this happened. He also claims the Board is excellent, and yet they would have been the people in charge when these losses occurred, so if their decisions were bad then, then providing any support to him would also be a bad decision by them. Of course, the loss claims are bogus.

Trump installed a bunch of sycophants as the board and installed himself as chairman. The Board defaced the Kennedy Center with Trump's name.

The result was that artists cancelled their planned appearances and major donors stopped donating.

Like everything Trump touches, he wrecked it.

Now he says that if his name is not put back on the Kennedy Center it will remain closed and no renovations will happen.

Trump destroyed it. And he will keep destroying it.

Trump has no positive human qualities. None at all.

Kennedy Center Closes Its Doors Despite a Judge’s Order

The announcement came after President Trump said he would cancel a $257 million renovation of the venue if his name is not returned to the building.
