A day without stupid?

I don't want to go through all 19 pages, but has there been a day without stupid since this thread's inception? I'm gonna guess the answer is no.

Several organisations are pouring aid in to Hurricane Harvey. The Democrats and Republicans agreed US$22 billion. I would have thought we could see posts about the progress in this matter. More is being spent. Good to see the parties cooperating.

In addition several organisations have donated generously. Funding has also been pouring into Puerto Rico re Hurricane Irma. Both were huge disasters.

You're clearly suffering from Stockholm syndrome. I suggest therapy.

At least he's not the president that gave us the civil war. Bit he's a close runner up as the worst American president ever. This thread was created to find a day when Trump didn't make the world more dangerous and divisive. Every time that man opens his mouth he just makes the situation worse. Ie the opposite of his job description

He is the worst President ever. There have been Presidents that were ineffective, mainly because prior to the Civil War, the President didn't maintain a lot of power, but combining all of the attitude issues, failure as a leader, etc... etc... no one comes close.

At least George W. Bush has the AIDS program he help foster and has done wonders in Africa. Oh, and he signed TARP. Of course, he had 8 years to get something right. Trump, less than one year, but it has been one of the longest years ever!

He's not the worst until he approaches GW's body count. Fortunately, he's mostly bark(famous last words).

What that got to do with the parties working together for the relief efforts?

Famous words, but far from last, on the right, when they affixed blame to Obama that he was the worst president.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
With one Yes vote in hospital & very positive signs from Alaska and two others (McCain is out), we have the HCare Vote, but not for Friday!

So now he thinks they won't have the votes by Friday because one of the YES votes is in the hospital. It's not because the three NO votes already sunk it. I guess Fox and Friends didn't mention Susan Collins and Rand Paul are also voting against it.

Ha, maybe he heard "No" on their lips, but "Yes" in their eyes.

No, no, Trump is saying that technically, they won, even though it looks like yet another utter failure. They know where the needed votes ARE, they just can't get them to the church on time. So, still not tired of winning!

He still thinks he has done more in 9 months than any other President. The man is deluded. W had already passed the massive tax cut at his point.

If I remember my history correctly James Buchanan (or was if Franklin Pierce?) changed the rules for the electoral college to more accurately mirror the population. But the electoral college had been carefully balanced to keep slave states balanced against non-slave states. When he did this secession was inevitable.

Here's a nugget of historical fact that many people often forget (never heard). Africans have naturally better protection against Malaria. Slave states were states where it was warm enough for Malaria to thrive. In the slave states it was dangerous for white workers to work their fields. They had a very high death rate. The non-slave states begin where it's too cold for malaria to spread effectively. The south were dependent on slaves for their very survival. Or rather, black workers. The environment and economic realities shaped the two sides values. When the electoral college was set up the founding fathers understood this, and balanced the voting for it.

This became moot when, between 1900 and 1940 most of the malarial swamps were drained. Also, making Florida go from the least popular state to live in, to the most popular state to live in.

Trump still hasn't done anything quite this stupid. Has he? He's yet to start a war. Though I suspect it's just a matter of time.

This is almost Trumpian (in a "what *are* you talking about?" way).

The rules for the Electoral College are outlined in the Constitution, and were last changed by the 12th amendment (ratified in 1804). That amendment had nothing to do with population, but changed the rules on how the Vice President was selected.

ETA - You are perhaps thinking of the "Missouri Compromise", signed by President James Monroe?

You'll need to add some citations to these claims as there seems to be a lot of wrong in it.

Time for a 25th Amendment remedy.
