A Question about Equality

Why is equality of outcomes wrong?

You are asking the wrong question. You should be asking "why does doing X to ensure equality of outcomes wrong?", where X is your preferred method.

I never ask the wrong questions. I just don't ask your questions. Luckily, it's a free forum. You get to ask your own, for yourself.

Do you know what a leading question is? A leading question is an ill-formed question. It's like asking someone when they stopped beating their wife. I think it is perfectly valid to point out that your question is ill-formed.

do you know you don't have to answer? Do you know if I ever need your help expressing what is in my mind, I will be sure to let you know?

Your question was successfully answered in post #2.

To summarize: Equality of outcomes will not occur on its own; actions taken to bring it about may cause more harm than good.

This an example of equality of outcome. Is this what you had in mind, or something else?

For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. 2 He agreed to pay them a denarius[a] for the day and sent them into his vineyard.

3 “About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. 4 He told them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.’ 5 So they went.

“He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing. 6 About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?’

7 “‘Because no one has hired us,’ they answered.

“He said to them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard.’

8 “When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.’

9 “The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius. 10 So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. 11 When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner. 12 ‘These who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said, ‘and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.’

13 “But he answered one of them, ‘I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius? 14 Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you. 15 Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’

Why is equality of outcomes wrong?

I don't know if it's wrong or not but I don't think equality of outcomes is something that is necessary.

I don't think people care if outcomes are equal or not. They just want to know that they had a fair chance at success. IMO that's one our problems right now: the game is rigged so everyone doesn't have a fair chance at success.

If you're a feminist, you're not going to read the below link because it exposes all of your lies and the ever deepening hypocrisy of your movement. If you're a feminist, the below link is the equivalent of throwing holy water on a vampire.

If you're a feminist, if you don't want your head sploding all over, skip the below link. If you're a rational person free of the cluster B personality disorders that define feminism, have at it. You'll understand just how full of BS feminists are:

It would be rude to read it now. You've gone to so much trouble to tell me not to read it, so I won't.

Well, that sure saves time.

Now we will resume the thread about EQUALITY OF OUTCOMES, already in progress :)

As an example:

If I shell out $80,000 for my kids education, I am paying for him to be educated, not have a fair chance at being educated.

My last post was all about EQUALITY OF OUTCOMES. You can't see that because you're too afraid that your head will explode if you read the linked graphic in my last post. I don't blame you for your fear. Your fear is justified. Do not read the linked information in my last post.

Why is equality of outcomes wrong?

Because inequality of outcome, like Jesus and NASCAR, is the American Dream. Everybody is secretly or not-so-secretly self-centered. We all want to win, to have more than those around us, to be better than those around us. We like equality of opportunity because what it really means is that in this game of winners and losers, we all have an equal chance of coming out on top. Not only does that provide hope; it also prevents the people who actually end up on top from feeling bad about those who are less fortunate, and it prevents the people working their way up the ladder from feeling bad about the people they've had to step on. Equal opportunity means we get to claim that we won fair and square and that the losers must therefore be inferior and therefore undeserving of our compassion or charity. Equality of outcome denies us all of that.

If you really believed in equality of outcomes you'd treat his posts with as much honor and respect as everyone else's.

I hate capitalism. I hate socialism. I hate communism. Why? Because on paper, only the latter two are about equality. In practice, only the first comes anywhere close to equality and fairness.

Do you know why the communists lost? Do you know what the Marxists lost? Do you know why the socialists lost? Why aren't more Americans moving to Russia, N. Korea and Cuba?

If you were told that you'd make the same as everyone else in your class, no matter the effort produced or intelligence required, why would you put forth any extra effort? You'd put forth the minimal effort to collect the same pay as the next person in your class, right? That's equality of outcome.

The former Soviets had a saying for equality of outcome: We pretend to work, they pretend to pay us.
