And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, 22, has shelled out $1,000 since April simply to rent space while she researches her business idea — a children’s book publishing company devoted to telling positive stories set in The Bronx.
...
“You don’t really make a profit in your first year,” Ocasio-Cortez said Monday at the Sunshine Bronx Business Incubator in Hunts Point. “To get taxed on top of that is a real whammy.”

Now Jews are White? These racist bastards don’t know what to do with the Jews.

By Hugh Fitzgerald, August 8, 2019:

Part One:

Appearing on a “hip-hop” radio show in New York, Ebro In the Morning, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez agreed with the interviewer, Ebro Darden, in his claim that there were “white supremacist Jews” who aligned with “racism.”
...

Ocasio-Cortez appeared to agree wholeheartedly with these claims, saying, “Absolutely.”
angelo, here is the source: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez On Impeaching Trump, Nancy Pelosi, Recent Backlash + Breaks Down Her Job - YouTube AOC covers a lot of stuff in it, and I find her very intelligent and knowledgable and thoughtful.

Also, anybody can be racist. A certain Leonard Jeffries is a black racist. He believes that black people are nice "Sun People" and white people are nasty "Ice People".

Leaving the racism out of this discussion for the moment. Show where this article/blog is in error.

What neither side of this transatlantic tag-team seems to realise is that by putting into words their apparent hatred of the West and its allies, they are exposing themselves as antagonists of the very freedoms that enable them to speak or have economic opportunity without fear of reprisal -- freedoms they would never have in Somalia, the Palestinian territories, or many of the tyrannies entrenched on the planet.

What voters can see is that those are the very freedoms that these politicians might try to take away from them, too, if their policies were adopted.

By refusing to rein in his support for a variety of dubious ideas and bedfellows, Corbyn has seen his popularity dwindle to almost nothing, and turn the Labour Party into a brand that even formerly like-minded outlets now call toxic.

First, AOC's boyfriend is very obviously Macro-European.
They are still dating?

Imagine you are dating a bartender and then all of a sudden she is a congresswoman who moves to a bougie apartment with a garbage disposal and everything.
Not to mention that she is now in the national media spotlight more than most freshmen in Congress because of her antics. I bet that's more than he signed up for.

AOC doesn't strike me as someone who would date someone who thought of her as 'just a bartender' given her obvious intelligence, education and drive.

But fair point: Michelle Obama did not sign up to be First Lady when she married Barack. She had no intentions of a political life.

Her obvious intelligence, education and drive :hysterical: Have you ever thought of going into stand up comedy? [Or is this your attempt at sarcasm?]

This is true. Some people want to bring her down to their level for that reason.

I know this may be hard for you to understand, but most people do not enter into dating relationships based solely upon the job their potential partner has.

Yes, but when the job changes so fundamentally and even brings a lot of national media attention, most people would have an issue with that.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shuts down heckler who called GOP ex-lawmaker a 'moron' - AOL News

I like this: Rep. Ocasio-Cortez on critics calling the Green New Deal "socialist": "The one thing that we cannot deny is that climate change is a problem of market failure and externalities in our economics." - she certainly knows her economics jargon.

I'm impressed by AOC's moral character:
MSNBC on Twitter: ""Hey, that's unacceptable": Rep. Ocasio-Cortez responds to audience member who called fmr. Rep. Inglis a "moron" during #AOCAllIn https://t.co/tcIQC1OtAa" / Twitter
She continued by saying that that's a difference between her and Trump.

Josh Marshall on Twitter: "Cuccinelli: That statue of liberty poem was about "people coming from Europe." https://t.co/nrDcUGJsU3" / Twitter
And people from elsewhere are not welcome?

"For the love of everyone" - nice alternative to "for the love of God". I've also seen "For the love of Mike".

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "One of the most manipulative tactics plutocrats use is convincing people that the systemic issues we face are a character flaws instead of policy flaws.
Working people aren’t dumb or inferior; nor are they why insulin costs $300 or huge co’s pay starvation wages.
Corruption is. https://t.co/zyW2m5KIqf" / Twitter

In effect, nothing is ever the fault of the economic elite. Ever.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "King’s comment is rooted in the belief that rape is a legitimate form of sex, as is sex that’s forced or coerced through subjugation & control.
It’s relevant that King says this while defending his anti-choice bill restricting abortion, which seeks to control anyone w/ a uterus. https://t.co/rjau0obQRX" / Twitter
noting
Annah Backstrom Aschbrenner on Twitter: "U.S. Rep. Steve King: If not for rape and incest, 'would there be any population left?' https://t.co/AHUoIMMwUM via @DMRegister" / Twitter
Steve King defends not allowing abortion exceptions for rape, incest
"What if we went back through all the family trees and just pulled those people out that were products of rape and incest? Would there be any population of the world left if we did that?" he said at the event in Urbandale, Iowa.

"Considering all the wars and all the rapes and pillages taken place and whatever happened to culture after society? I know I can't certify that I'm not a part of a product of that."
What a load of Panglossian bullshit.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "It’s clear that Rep. King must resign, but as Sen. Schatz points out, King’s endorsement is valued in the Republican Party.
He can resign, but his views clearly resonate with the GOP. https://t.co/4wF4WtSK3M" / Twitter

Brian Schatz on Twitter: "Just a reminder that every Republican presidential candidate coveted Steve King’s endorsement in the last cycle." / Twitter
The most charitable explanation that I can think of that is because Iowa is the state of the first Presidential primaries.

But both of Iowa's Senators are Republicans, and only one of Iowa's Reps: Steve King himself.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: How to Challenge An Incumbent - YouTube from Oct 27, 2017 -- 8 months before the 2018 Democratic primary -- AOC going door-to-door, trying to sign up new voters and to get existing ones to register as Democrats. She'd put cards announcing her candidacy on some doors, and she noted that it can be hard in some places, with some people fearing ICE raids.

AOC Debuts Her $17,000 District Office On Instagram - YouTube - that's the rent per month. AOC's video is in the first minute. By TheBlaze, a right-wing site.

Ocasio-Cortez Is Tired Of "Working All The Time" - YouTube - some of her Instagram videos. In her early months, she worked so much that she didn't have time to buy furniture, so she sleeps on an air mattress. She asks if it's really worth having children when they will be growing up in a world full of climate disasters, though I think that it's a more immediate problem of a bad economy for many people. AOC's office is currently having a baby boom because of AOC's family-friendly policies. She also thinks that Venezuela is a failure of democracy, and that she is a strong supporter of democracy, including in workplaces.

Ocasio-Cortez talks Green New Deal with Fox News - YouTube - she wanted a "real vote" instead of a "procedural vote" on it in the Senate. As it happened, most Democrats boycotted that vote.

Why Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Wore Hoop Earrings & Red Lipstick - YouTube - why Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor showed up at her confirmation with painted earrings.

Just One Question With Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez - YouTube - said about "The Breakfast Club" that it was an old movie, and that she was surprised that that movie was in color. She also said about what she has in common with Mitch McConnell is an awkward relationship with Mitch McConnell.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: There's Room For Democratic Socialists In The Democratic Party (HBO) - YouTube - she'll compromise about means but not about values and goals. I think that a good part of her success is her assertion of moral values, like her tagline, "In a modern, moral, and wealthy society, no American should be too poor to live."

Gentrifying Neighborhoods Powered Ocasio-Cortez's Victory
A woman with powder-white hair and sunglasses, who Luzincourt guessed was in her 70s or 80s, was blunt with him. “I wouldn’t vote for that fuckin’ spic if you paid me,” she told Luzincourt about an hour before he was interviewed by The Intercept.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Security Clearances: "This is ridiculous." (C-SPAN) - YouTube from last spring, about Jared Kushner doing foreign policy with WhatsApp ("But his WhatsApp" - WhatsApp). AOC described receiving a secure cellphone and a secure tablet in her Congressional "swag bag", and she had a lot to say about Prince Jared's gross negligence. "What is next? Putting nuclear codes in Instagram DM's?"

Ocasio-Cortez thanks supporters in victory speech - YouTube - she recovers nicely from a bit of bad news in the middle (Ted Cruz beating Beto O'Rourke in Texas).

Surge of female candidates sparks an explosion of color - POLITICO - AOC among them. About her campaign posters,
The risk proved worth it, according to Starrett, who co-founded Tandem, a New York-based creative firm, as campaign staffers have told him the stylish posters were so in demand that they had to ask people to refrain from taking them off the streets for their own personal use.

You and the Dalai Lama.
I don't know what the reference to Dalai Lama is in aid of, but my point is that protesting oil while wasting large quantities of it is hypocritical. And the whole protest was more than meaningless. Even under the most optimistic scenario or electric vehicle adoption, we will need oil-based fuels, and thus pipelines like the DAPL for decades.
And instead of pushing unrealistic air castles like her GND, AOC should do something more realistic. For example, push to convert the USPS fleet to electric. They would be perfect first adopters as mail delivery involves a lot of stops and EVs don't idle and can recapture some of the kinetic energy though regenerative braking. But you know, it's not as bombastic as demanding every single building in the US be retrofitted or that there should be a federal jobs guarantee.

I like this: Rep. Ocasio-Cortez on critics calling the Green New Deal "socialist": "The one thing that we cannot deny is that climate change is a problem of market failure and externalities in our economics." - she certainly knows her economics jargon.
Well good to know she at least picked up some lingo during her 4 years of "studying" economics. :)

Oh get off it, Derec. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez graduated cum laude with a double major: one in International Relations and the other in Economics. Boston University's economics program is highly ranked both nationally and internationally.

At least stick with something close to reality in you criticisms.

If this wasn't serious it would be laugh out loud stuff! HTF could an economics graduate come up with such loony tunes ideas such as GND? Boston Uni taught the bimbo on how to cultivate money trees?
