Apple, Amazon, Google ban social media platform Parler in wake of US Capitol riots

They didn't do that. They terminated the agreement. Otherwise, Parler would be able to get back on; which it can't.

It can't get back on because access has been disabled. What do you think disabling access means?

That is under the suspension clause of the agreement. If you're told you can't come back, you're not suspended you're terminated.

So, maybe not 100% the place for this but, turns out demanding users vet themselves to join your alt-white platform is a bad idea.

Their platform, for reference, was built on wordpress, and someone used a vulnerability to completely breach the content of their service before they were suspended.

Sounds like a private cause for class action against Parler

If the site can be suspended immediately for 30 days, and that allows for 30 days before the contract is terminated, then it can in effect be disabled immediately and never return.

So Parler sues Amazon - https://drive.google.com/file/d/10N3_J2fVHxGUYeuc-xL0cRWWVPQylnoM/view. Antitrust, breach of contract, and tortuous interference with business expectancy. The breach of contract is pretty clear. The antitrust claim raises facts many may not have known; that Twitter recently contracted with Amazon for server access. Hence, Parler is a competitor to Amazon. The discovery produced for those allegations would be interesting. Methinks that the Woke at Amazon didn't consult the lawyers before trying to kill Parler.

When Parler aided and abetted treason that basically removed any obligations Amazon had to continue hosting them. I don't think this will go much farther than all the other stupid lawsuits we have seen from the GOP recently.

So, you're telling me the Constitution doesn't protect the right to actively attempt to overthrow the Constitution?

This was something I was wondering. Could those managing Parler be charged with complicity?

Amazon Responds To Parler's Lawsuit.

“There is no merit to these claims,” an Amazon Web Services spokesperson said in a statement. “AWS provides technology and services to customers across the political spectrum, and we respect Parler’s right to determine for itself what content it will allow. However, it is clear that there is significant content on Parler that encourages and incites violence against others, and that Parler is unable or unwilling to promptly identify and remove this content, which is a violation of our terms of service. We made our concerns known to Parler over a number of weeks and during that time we saw a significant increase in this type of dangerous content, not a decrease, which led to our suspension of their services Sunday evening.”

Here's another link to Rex Huppke's excellent caricature of Republican thought. It seems the best response to some of these absurdities.

Yes, I write "Republican" rather than "right-wing", "Trumpist" or "imbecilic deplorable." The large majority of Republican voters have shown us their true colors. GOP leaders who pretend to have humane or patriotic values need to dance with them that voted for 'em.

I must say that I enjoy the sight of right-wingers tying themselves in knots about this issue. They consider themselves pro-business, but when a business does something that they dislike, they go bonkers. They don't even reconsider their stance.

I once started this thread: Conservatives against Capitalism? - I noted that the Right has a much poorer record than the Left in taming capitalism.

They should just think of it this way: Apple is a baker and Parler is a gay couple looking for a wedding cake.
