The shooter's father asked the cops to give the gun back and promised not to give it to his son.

After the shooting, he admitted to giving the gun to his son despite what he said to the cops, who really should have known better if America was a sane country with sane gun policies.

I guess they should try the father on 4 counts of accomplice to murder.

We should, but we probably won't.

Maybe:

A federal official says the father of the man suspected of fatally shooting four at a Nashville Waffle House could face charges for returning guns that were taken from him after an incident last year at the White House.

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Special Agent Marcus Watson said at a news conference Monday that Jeffrey Reinking's act of returning the guns to his son is "potentially a violation of federal law."

Hopefully

Hold on though...why give the guns back? Why not also have the son in treatment at that time if he stole weapons and was acting illegally?

I think it would be accessory before the fact rather than accomplice. I'd like to see him get life without parole, though.

Doesn't matter if it's the father or the town drunk. The cops fucked up by giving the guns to another person. If the father is guilty then so are the cops.

Can't argue with you there, but if our "justice" system won't prosecute them for murdering unarmed children, what are the odds they would be prosecuted for something like this?

I'd rather see him tend to the victims of gun violence for the rest of his life.

A civil suit to bankrupt Daddy. Any insurance companies on the hook for death benefits or medical coverage should take this up.
