Bernie Supporte - Thinking about voting for Trump

Yup. Why?
Because if $hillary is elected she'll be a one-term wonder and the backlash will put the republitards back in power for a long time. If Trump is elected, the backlash will favor whoever inherits Bernie's platform.

My only hesitation is the supreme court justice thing... who knows what kind of scumbag buddy of the Donald he might put up? Of course the same goes for Clinton - I don't trust her one bit to nominate someone who will overturn Citizens United or resurrect The Glass-Steagall Act.

I'm open to persuasion, so someone please persuade me.

SCOTUS had zilch to do with Glass-Steagall

Vote for whoever you want.

This whole thing is like someone who really doesn't like you comes to a party you are throwing because he or she has a better chance of meeting someone. Then they start complaining about the music you have playing, about the food you are serving and about the others who are attending your party.

I'm really getting tired of this shit.

As a person that is rather liberal, the ideas that Sanders has I think are important. And his campaign had been important. I wish the second sentence wasn't past tense. This is a guy who has won a lot of small primaries by margins not too great, but then loses bigger ones by pretty good margins. Add to this, the delegate totals he has at this point is still I believe higher than the percentage of the vote he has won.

Regarding SCOTUS, you might want to care about more than just 1 or 2 ruling. For example, it is highly plausible that a Trump victory will mean an overturn of Roe v. Wade, numerous pro-theocracy rulings on church-state issues, and countless other rulings against things you probably care about that would go the other way under any plausible justice put forward by Cinton.

This actually applies to your other points as well. In general, Trump combined with a GOP controlled congress (they will not lose control of either House) guarantees massive increase in racist, sexist, theorcratic, anti climate-change, and generally corporatist policies that will have impacts for generations to come. Voting for Trump makes you personally morally responsible for those very predictable consequences of your vote. In addition, for reasons having nothing to do with Trump, the economy is likely to continue to improve over the next 4 years, all but guaranteeing Trump a second term. You are ensuring 8 of the worst years in US political history (yes, worse than GW) on a rather baseless gamble that it will wind up aiding some yet imaginary future inheritor of "Bernie's Platform".

Not to mention, such an ineritor of Bernies platform cannot win anyway. Bernie's support had much more to do with his likeable grandpa persona than any of his actual policies. In fact, most of his supporters are against the realities of his actual policies. Halfo of Bernie's supporters are not willing to pay even $500 more in taxes to get Universal Healthcare or free college Educations, both of which would require far more than than that from the average tax payer.

Without Bernie's personal charm, his platform has zero chance of winning election, no matter what Trump does to ruin the country in the next 8 years.

Just putting the stamp of data to support your observations.

Pledged delegates are based on state primary results, while super delegates can support any candidate. Delegate results aren't final until the convention in July.

Tasking the two data sets and computing fractions for each candidate we get:

Fractions:

...........Popular vote .....Pledged delegates

Clinton: ....56.6% ...............54.2%
Sanders....43.4% ...............45.8%

Votes and delegates won are within rounding error biased, if one can call it that, toward Sanders

Yes the contest is won by Clinton. There is a primary process. It should be run as if there were a horse race to keep the tension and excitement high. I see no real risk in that given recent history in democratic cycles..

And then to start complaining the system isn't fair? I don't believe there is an alternative primary system which would have him at a higher number of delegates right now. He had an opening to make a difference, and Clinton was shifting a little to the left. He was winning. But now it seems he may have actually thought this was going to be a down to the wire thing, when Clinton had it in the bag past South Carolina. The Super Delegates won't switch to Sanders, not unless he won more important primaries like Obama did.

This race is over, the only reason to still be in it, is to advertise your policies, not to start complaining about how the system isn't fair.

I agree, and you know I think super delegates are fair. Sure, it's rigging the system to some degree, but super delegates earn that position within the party. They spend a lot of their time volunteering, serving on committees and in many cases getting themselves elected to public service. If a candidate that helps them get elected by spending their time campaigning for them, and that person runs for president there is nothing wrong with that person returning the favor.

Another thing I noticed at our convention last week was that there weren't enough Sanders people volunteering to help out during registration so Clinton people had to fill in, which is ok, but the Sanders volunteers were all people who had been registered democrats all along. I didn't meet one Sanders volunteer who had just come into the party. Now I know there are a few, I mentioned in another post how one of Sanders top organizers in the state has become very involved in the party and was trying to explain to the convention that this is the way you change the party, but the Sanders people were booing so loudly I don't think they got the message.

So, they want everything without any compromise but don't want to take the trouble to actually do anything to make that happen?

Sounds like the youth of today.

I'm voting for Trump because my morbid curiosity of the outcome is greater than my interest in supporting a prosperous future for America. I'm old and childless. Nothing personal against any of you specifically, but fuck your snot-nosed millennial kids.

Those kids will be the ones who kill you in the upcoming Climate Wars.

Okay, I admit it - the OP is about 65% trollery. There aren't enough antiemetics in the world to make me vote for teh Donald. But if I can hold my nose with the other hand, I'll go ahead and vote for Clinton...
