What we are almost certainly looking at is an image of the disk out of his laptop--but that does not prove that what's on that image is a true representation of what was there when it was made. The story of how the image came to be does not ring true to me (the quoted repair charge is too low for any operation that warrants imaging the drive) and thus I think it was obtained by surreptitious means and planted. This strongly suggests that it was also altered.
