Bill O'Reilly's combat experiences....hmmm?

Yeah. Something about the idea that a medal lost some of its reputation if just 'anybody' could say they earned one. Which implies that people would stop performing heroic acts simply because the MOH would be worth less than it had been... Never heard a recepient talk about the thought process before charging the machine gun or the tank, 'is the MOH going to get me laid?'

Back in the day when I got a Victoria Cross*, I definitely avoided mentioning the event to people afterwards, as it seemed very unlikely that retelling the story would get me laid. It was a pretty serious fight, and I feel there was some bravery on both sides. I count myself lucky to have escaped with my life, to be honest.

*I don't recall her surname, but I am pretty sure her first name was Victoria, or maybe Veronica. Anyway, she must have been very cross indeed to throw her drink in my face like that.

Thank you for your service. That must have been a harrowing experience. I am in awe of your bravery. :slowclap:

What gets me about this is when Williams and Rather got caught, NBC/CBS investigated and the chips fell for them both. What does Fox News do? Do we have a thumb-twiddling smiley?

Well let's put it this way...Fox will fire someone for lying when :pigsfly:

Why? Because when someone points out when one of their hosts says something untrue or downright idiotic they're like :lalala:

No matter how many times you :poke_with_stick: they will stick to their guns because they're full of :horsecrap:

As a lot of the articles have noted, FOX is the only major news network built on a tribal mentality that everyone else is out to get them. Revelations like this, and truth in general, mean nothing to someone who has been indoctrinated into the FOX worldview.

Bill O'Reilly is an entertainer, not a journalist.

Those old enough may remember his stylistic forbearer, Joe Pyne. (Audio is very low)

I remember this jackass attacking Alan Ginsberg on his show and Ginsberg totally humiliating him with kindness. It was perhaps the best show he ever did.

Really? Your question is whether or not Bill O'Reilly's viewers are aware of something?

I don't think most O'Reilly viewers are aware of what century they're in.

In any event, even though we're now up to three (3) outright lies that have been uncovered, it's looking pretty clear that nothing substantial will come of this. FOX doesn't give a shit about their credibility and their viewers will believe whatever they're told.

I'd go further and say that resisting BillO's accusers validates their view. Jon Stewart said people are saying the emperor has no clothes, but BillO from the beginning has been saying, "I'm naked! Look at my dick!".

This may end up a daily news item. Another shoe drops: Bill O’Reilly’s ex-colleagues call his L.A. riot stories ‘completely fictitious’

Fox is just repeating their non-response and crying conspiracy.

“Bill O’Reilly has already addressed several claims leveled against him,” the spokeswoman said. “Responding to the unproven accusation du jour has become an exercise in futility. Fox News maintains its staunch support of O’Reilly, who is no stranger to calculated onslaughts.”

Lie count has now risen to five. FOX's response to this one is pretty funny. I guess I can say I saw soldiers kill each other in the Civil War, because someone showed me pictures.

If nothing else, the fact that this much dirt has been uncovered and nothing has happened is just undeniable proof (not that any more is needed) that FOX is not a serious news organization, and a quick and easy bit of ammunition to shut down anyone who tries to argue otherwise.

Of course not. Attacks on their credibility are simply part of the librul conspiracy against them. They can't be related to FOX's own attacks on other people's credibility, which are tools that they use to help expose the librul conspiracy against them.

The circle of logic will continue.

Logic has a well known liberal bias and therefore can't be used to come to objective conclusions.

I can't say that I have listened to a complete sentence from Bill O`Reilly. I don't have strong feelings about him one way or another.

We went through this before with the guy with the blackboard who cried all of the time. I don't remember his name. He left Fox News and they found someone else to replace him.

Conservatives are always wrong about the problems that we have in society. They need lies to tell them that they are right. They need liars to tell the lies. Lying isn't a personal flaw for a conservative commentator, it is a job requirement, the highlight of their CV. It is that simple.

That Mr. O'Reilly has apparently been such an accomplished liar for so long, only enhances his qualifications for his chosen profession. If he were to leave Fox News they would have to find someone else to take his place, someone else who is also an accomplished liar.

There is no reason to heap abuse on Bill O`Reilly. There is no reason to point out his hypocrisy in his campaign against Brian Williams, a tolerance for hypocrisy is another requirement to be a conservative. There is no reason to fire him, he was only doing his job.

See, this isn't a thread filled with O'Reilly haters. I certainly don't hate him and I don't think that he should be fired.
