Okay, so a bisexual will have sex with either sex. So, in a sense, they have twice as much opportunity. Allegedly.

A bicycle has twice the wheels as a unicycle.

Bimonthly is twice a month. Twice as much as monthly.

But biweekly is every other week. It's half as much as weekly...and almost the same thing as bimonthly...as in, do you get your paycheck biweekly or bimonthly?

Wtf.

Because bi can mean twice the amount, to say I get paid bi-weekly then it can mean I can get paid in twice the amount of a time there is in a week, so every two weeks. Make sense now?

Bimonthly should mean every two months.

That's the odd-one-out here.

Every half a month would be dimonthly.

Bi- implies two. Di- implies a half.

<petpeeve> BTW, it is also DIS-sect (meaning cut into sections, or divide into component parts) not DI-sect (which would mean cut in half, which is an odd thing for a pathologist to do). </petpeeve>

I am guessing that bimonthly is a corruption of dimonthly.

Oh, the horrors! Not being facetious. You remind me of a boo boo I once made. The contract said "bi-annually." Guess what I thought that meant! Grrr.

Don't try to tell a trucker that his semi is only half a truck.

But it is half. A semi-truck and a semi-trailer combine together to form a tractor-trailer. It's called a semi precisely because it's the front half.
