Buttigieg Presidential Campaign

Her problem was that she is black and female.
I disagree.

Kamala Harris had a lot of flaws as a candidate that were unrelated to her sex and skin color. Reducing her loss to those two attributes makes it too easy on her.
Also, she had a tough hand because Biden took so long to go into that good night.
ALL candidates have a lot of flaws. Without the concerted disinformation campaign put forth by enemy nations, Trump is absolutely nothing but fatal flaws.
Yes, but that doesn't change the fact that Harris was flawed. She probably turned off a lot of voters who regarded her as too far left.
Every single candidate that has ever or will ever exist is flawed.

Harris certainly is not more ‘flawed’ than Trump by several orders of magnitude.

So why did some people vote for Trump rather than Harris?

Skin color and gender.

Some people are just more comfortable with the old white gut because they are used to old white guts being in charge. And because it allows them to leave their own prejudices unexamined, and in fact, to feel they are vindicated.

People like to feel good about themselves. Having their leader share the worst of their faults seems to appeal to certain people. I don’t get it. Frankly I want the people in charge to know more and to be better than I am.
I don't think Harris' flaws made anyone switch to The Felon. Rather, they kept people away from the polls. Too many people choose inaction when faced with a bad vs worse choice.
And in this case, the fact that Harris is a woman made her, to some people, a ‘bad’ candidate. So did the color of her skin. Combined? Double whammy. Those were the big flaws. Because, as we know, every single candidate is flawed and none so flawed as Trump. So no, it was not the fact that she’s ’flawed.’ Is the fact that a woman must be perfect in every way to not be considered ‘flawed.’ A candidate with a dick? Not a problem even if he is a serial cheater, liar, idiot, rapist, idiot, bankrupt ( financially and morally) and incompetent and is responsible for the deaths of half a million Americans.

Loren, y while her skin color and gender may. not have driven you into the arms of Cheatolinni, it’s hard to not think that’s how it affected some voters.

Wrong, and that has been explained to you numerous times.
Because, as we know, every single candidate is flawed
But not every candidate is equally flawed. The primary season is supposed to be a crucible where flaws are exposed and either burnt off leaving the candidate stronger, or else burn the candidate to a crisp (as happened in the 2020 season for Kamala). In 2024 she did not have to deal with the primary season. It was a coronation. That was fatal. Biden should have dropped out a year earlier and allowed for a full primary season.
Even if that had resulted in KH getting the nomination (unlikely) , she would have been a stronger candidate for having gone through a competitive nominating process, and would probably have won.
and none so flawed as Trump.
Sure, but that bar is so low, it's barely a threshold.

So no, it was not the fact that she’s ’flawed.’ Is the fact that a woman must be perfect in every way to not be considered ‘flawed.’
Nope. A white Kenneth Harris, with the same history as Kamala, would have been just as flawed.

While there are some sexists and racist for sure, I think you are overstating that effect. Also, there were certainly also some people more likely to vote for KH because she is a woman and not white.

I'll bet that's the secret to how Chris Christie gets elected.
I thought it was his sick dance moves.

What I do agree with you about is that Biden stepping aside for Harris was a mistake. I sincerely doubt he would have run again had Trump not gotten the nomination. Then there would have been a proper primary and Harris might or might not have gotten the nomination.

Let’s face it: Trump crowned himself King and candidate the moment he said he was running. Why you are not likewise critical of that process is best to describe Trump’s ‘nomination?’

He and his inner circle should have made that decision based on Biden's fitness to run again, not based on what Republicans were doing.

There is a lot to be critical about when it comes to Trump. But he did face a somewhat competitive primary process, even if he was heavily favored.
In fact, at one point it looked like RdS could have bested him - his poll numbers were rising, and Trump's sinking, in late 2022 through early 2023. Then came the ill-conceived indictment for StormyGate, and Trump surged in popularity again.

But Biden entered the 2020 election specifically because he was the best weapon to serve as antithesis to Trump. However much I and perhaps you may dislike it, Biden is/was the perfect antithesis to Trump. He should not have been forced out. Would st case, he could have resigned due to declining health midway through his term.

Now we have an even worse horror to try to survive than Trump 1.0.

Exactly. Who wants to vote for a party that holds them in contempt and doesn't seem to have a lick of common sense?

They couldn't beat that orange fucking baboon and even lost ground to him this time around. Republicans own the House, the Senate, and SCOTUS.

The people running the Democratic party are a useless cluster of out of touch dipshits.

Democrats: we don't want you, or you, or you, or you.

Republicans: if the Democrats don't want you, we'll take you.

Who wants to vote for a party that holds them in contempt and doesn't seem to have a lick of common sense?
Trumpsuckers?

QED. “Judge only by the amazing results!”
The vexing thing to me is that all they seem to have, is more of the same.
Trying to imagine a political landscape where more of the same is likely to win … anything … is difficult

Trumpsuckers?
Them too.

I've wasted enough energy and outrage in the last 8-10 years over the GOP. It's just not interesting to me anymore, and I'm not giving another fucking dime to the Dems, nor will I vote for them. Over the next four years they have the chance to bring sanity back to the party.

I have zero faith that'll happen. I also believe that we won't have real elections again, so it's likely all moot.

What insurmountable flaws did Harris possess then? You don’t like it that Biden dropped out late and there was no primary? Me either but that’s not Harris’ flaw, now is it?

Care to make a chart for a side by side comparison with Trump or any other candidate?

Every candidate who ever ran had flaws, serious ones. Every POTUS ever in that position has made serious errors and mistakes.

You are only continuing to prove that unless Democrats can put forth a perfect, totally unflawed candidate, you and your ilk would prefer to burn the place down like spoiled children.

Really? I’d have said the opposite: The Republicans only want those who are loyal or pretend to be or are loyal for a price to Trump. They want those they can scare and pump up with hate.

The Dems these days and in recent times have most closely echoed the words at the foot of the Staue of Liberty.
