California Doing California Things

So we're all agreed that Matt McMahan is basically a DINO, right? Why is he blasting my social media with ads, aren't advertising services supposed to be targeted at likely customers? I'd rather vote for a burnt slice of toast.

$20 says if there's still a Trump regime five years from now, McMahan will have JD Vance'd his way into it by then.

The governor's race in general is just depressing to think about. Apparently every single candidate has a higher unfavorability rating than favorable. At present, two Republicans are leading the race, not because either is well liked, but because only two Republican candidates are splitting that party's vote, as opposed to eight or so on the "Democrat" side. The only certain outcome is that whoever wins, no one will be especially excited.

Why any Californian would vote Republican in this election boggles my mind. The Trump administration declared war on us. Do these people have any loyalty at all?

We really need either Swalwell or Porter to drop out. Don't care which.

Because we’re sick of one party rule and the corruption that comes with it. I’ll take Steve Hilton over the low IQ democrats who offer more of the same shit.

He did? I must have missed that thread. In what way has the Trump administration “declared war” on California? Was it an executive order or something?

Insufferable prick Newsom is "still processing" the allegations against Cesar Chavez

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) on Wednesday said he was still “processing” sexual misconduct allegations against the legendary farm worker activist César Chávez, who died in 1993. Multiple women told The New York Times that Chávez slept with them while they were underage, which led to long-term emotional distress. The revelations have led to a reckoning over the legacy of Chávez. “I think all of us are processing it. And, you know, and just these kids have to process it now. I mean, I think there’s … three dozen schools in the state are named after César Chávez. I don’t know [how many are in the] community, in the country,” Newsom said during an unrelated press conference in the Bay Area. “I traveled to 14 states the last few weeks.

Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) on Wednesday vowed to “rework” a bill he introduced last year proposing the creation of a national park dedicated to Chávez. :ROFLMAO:

The Hill

Newsom, anywhere but California but we are all better off with him out of the state.

Dodger Stadium sits in Chavez Ravine. They should move!

I've long said on this forum that naming streets, schools, etc after famous people is one of the dumbest ideas around, for just this very reason. There are a lot of CC schools, streets, etc around my area that are going to be costly to rename. MLK, Jr is next. Supposedly, there is a slew of audiotapes, etc that are slated to be released next year that aren't going to be favorable, to say the least. And there is even more MLK naming than CC naming around here.

I don’t know anything about Cesar Chavis, he died before a few months before I arrived in California. He’s been dead quite a while now, a bit odd that these allegations are being brought to light now.

It’s always a bit of a risk naming streets, schools and what not after people. Probably best not to do it.

There were always reports and allegations about this man and his conduct. What you should be asking is why they are suddenly being addressed now. The answer is more political than legal. One of his victims has become important enough in her own right that her testimony is being listened to rather than hushed and erased, and both national political parties are keen to take advantage of the moment.

It does not surprise me that you never bothered to learn anything about California history, though! Why did you even come here, just to bother us?

He came here to take advantage of Bill Clinton’s economic boom.
Now he’s suckling on Trump’s dry teat, and blaming Newsom for its desiccated state.

Yes! And I am staying just to spite you.

The 4th largest economy in the world

And this is what goes on in Newsom and the democrats’ California. Mental patients living in the sewer in Los Angeles.

Why don’t you down into your sewers and offer those poor your home? Because you LIKE keeping them poor and filthy?
Look how our immigrants treat the people whose housing they have usurped!

And should a Republican get elected governor, all the mental patients will come climbing out of the sewers and rejoice.

There’s almost ZERO climate change down in those sewers.

US is #1 and also has homeless people, even outside of California.

Newsome is focusing on the future which is tech and electricity.

Newsom (there is no "e" in Nwsom) is currently focused on himself. He checked out of governing California in 2024 to concentrate on his risible presidential aspirations and put out silly postings and memes on X. Newsom is low IQ, bordering on retarded. Newsom is the "brains" behind the California High Speed Rail debacle that will cost billions of dollars and will serve nobody. He is also the "brains" behind the failed California emergency services phone system, a $900m failure.
For the past decade+ Republicans have debased the entirety of political discourse with juvenile and disgraceful name calling, especially that insufferable orange colored prick residing in the White House, but a Dem remotely doing the same thing is a bridge too far?

Also, I'll take a "failed emergency phone system" over a shameful healthcare system all day every day.

In the current environment and the foreseeable future, the problem isn't getting fixed. The Dems would be willing to pay to get it done but wouldn't tolerate a change in the 14th Amendment to do so. The Republicans would be willing to carve out an exception to the 14th but wouldn't be willing to pay for it.

The Dems don't have the will and the GOP wants the problem to persist in blue states because they get so much mileage out of it.

That's how capitalism works. Extreme wealth doesn't just exist, it is extracted.

Why are you so unbothered by mentally ill people living like this?
I am VERY bothered by the inhumanity of the situation, and boggled by your unashamed hypocrisy. Half your posts in this thread are "outraged" posts demonizing and dehumanizing the people you call "homeless", advocating for their involuntary detention, the "clearing" of their homes, the theft of their property, and opposing every single expenditure the state governmemt makes to address the crisis. I don't even know how you look at yourself in the mirror, the way you habitually talk about fellow human beings in this thread.
