Yes, I can see people being pissed off at those who see them as "oppressors" simply because they committed the unpardonable sin of being born white, male and straight. This is the cornerstone of intersectional "woke" ideology.
If there were such a thing as a "Woke ideology", that wouldn't be it. How is that "woke" in the slightest? What would one be woke to, if one believed that?
This is, I think, projection. You fear and hate women, gays, and all other races than your own, so you hysterically imagine we must all fear and hate you in the same way and call that Woke. Right? This is, however, an irrational fear.
Sigh.
Everyone who doesn't toe the Woke line must be a bigot.
What is the "Woke Line"?
I can't help but believe you're arguing in bad faith with any of this. The alternative is that you utterly refuse to engage in any sort of introspection, which is eerily similar to the Democratic Party.
Control of Congress?
The White House?
A 6-3 conservative majority on SCOTUS?
Maybe you should ask yourself how things got this way and the role your ideology played in it.
The Virginia Governor race was won in large part because of CRT... ie a fake a issue.
Right-wingers are all up in arms trying to prevent transgenders from competing in women's sports, something that is near non-existent.
P.S. if you aren't aware of what Woke ideology is, I'd be happy to give you numerous examples.
I'm curious. Right now, Trump is responsible for the upcoming global recession. I want to hear about how "Woke Ideology" is responsible, instead of inflation driven by the pandemic and pandemic relief and across the board wage hikes... and about half of the voters looking the other way over that whole January 6th thing.
When I refer to X thing/people being responsible for what Baboon and Co. are doing, I'm referring to the role they played that helped those idiots get into office. I don't care much to talk about the authoritarianism that's consumed the GOP. They're a lost cause and I can only rarely bring myself to outrage after doing so for well over decade now.
Anyway, examples:
Language policing: this seems to go hand in hand with the grating term "micro aggression." The claimed reason for jumping up someone's ass for an innocuous word or two in a casual statement is that they're being corrected for their thoughtless, systematic bigotry. It's a baseless and vicious assumption with little thought behind it.
Cancellation: we've all heard this one before and conservatives are certainly guilty of it too. However, I am firm believer in consistency, so when I see it coming from my side of the spectrum I will absolutely be critical of it. J.K. Rowling, Dave Chapelle, and Dawkins are examples. Each took hits of varying degrees and were harassed without relent on social media for innocuous and even accurate statements.
Identity Politics: similar to the above, both sides do this. What I find it tragic is that too many on the left will cling to what are clearly bad ideas based on well meant principles, which has led to the shutting down of honest and needed discussion. Let's take a trans issue like former men going into women's sports. One would be correct to say that there are very few instances of this and that would be true. However, it is a real issue and what's more important in terms of voting is that the vociferous defense and poo-pooing of concerns on this issue have created the perception that this is representative of Democratic thought.
Entertainment: look at the shit Disney has put out over the last decade. These movies and TV shows have a clear political agenda that clubs the viewer over the head with messaging, the effect of which tells the viewer that if you don't buy into the messaging that something is wrong with you. It's similar to movies like God Is Not Dead except there's billions of dollars behind it. Now, same as Disney, the Oscars are guilty of this too because they've decided that movies without racial quotas will not be considered for nomination.
Families: the term "trad wife" has become a derogatory term directed toward women who want to have a traditional marriage i.e. husband and children. These comments are almost exclusively pointed toward white women and therefore white families.
I could go on e.g. illegal immigration, support of Hamas, antisemitism, the university system, etc.
The theme running through this is social oppression and alienation by few against the many. Even the most outrageous leftist bullshit that's espoused by Reddit users gets out into the wider world and becomes fodder for the GOP. In a country with an antiquated electoral college system all these things matter--a lot. Unfortunately there will be no introspection and exorcise of these destructive voices because being accused of e.g. racism immediately shuts down any possibility of honest discussion. Unless one wants to be harassed and accused of being an awful human being, it's just best to let it go and go about one's daily life of working, paying bills, raising their family, etc.
I've gone on long enough, so I'll wait for any responses that come with this long winded screed.
