Gun laws have been gradually relaxed around the country for decades now. During that time period, the number of mass shootings keeps increasing.

No other industrialized nation has been relaxing their gun laws like America has. None of them have seen a corresponding increase in mass shootings.

At least two other industrialized nations that I know of increased gun regulation during this period and saw a reduction in mass shootings.

But sure, pretend that the NRA and their supporters don't have American blood on their hands.

The underlying trend is growth again.

Are you proposing that a policeman be exempt from the homicide laws which restrict the rest of us? There are many circumstances in which I could shoot you and suffer no legal consequence, once the facts had been established. A policeman has those same protections. Are you proposing that a policeman's judgment while on the job be considered a substitute for the entire legal process form arrest to execution, and anyone he kills, needed to be killed?

Gee. Could it be that 2015-2016 were just a blip? Must there always be something sinister going on when the murder rate goes up? Nothing mysterious going on here. There were probably just more assholes killing people for two years in a row. I doubt we will ever know exactly why. And, while I'm not fan of guns, despite being married to a gun toting liberal, guns ain't going anywhere. It would be nice if we at least got rid of the gun show loophole, and made it a little bit more difficult for crazy people to buy guns legally. The vast majority of gun owners would like to see stricter gun laws, and I do agree that the NRA gun lobby has too much influence on the politicians they fund, but the US has quite a history of allowing money to influence political decisions.

There are over 300 million guns in the country. They have been a part of American culture since those damn Europeans invaded and destroyed a lot of the natives and their culture. I blame them. Btw, why can't some of you men disagree without attacking each other?
