And it was almost 100 F in New York City and Boston who cares as long as it's nice in Santa Monica. It was in the upper 90s in Indy earlier this week, only about 10 or so degrees about normal, but that means nothing since Santa Monica is not so hot.
Surely you must be familiar with the concept of summer and summer heatwaves?
A few hot days in the summer is not unusual. In fact it is quite common.
It is a balmy 74 degrees today and a slight breeze.
Good grief. These aren't normal heatwaves.
There is nothing extraordinary about them.
These are record breaking, highly unusual heatwaves related to the climate. But of course, you. know more than all the highly educated climate scientists that keep reporting the evidence. Keep up! Read some science journals. Have you ever read anything about the fact that many recent years have been hotter than anything ever recorded? Do you not understand that lots of people are suffering from heatstroke, to the point that some are dying?
Yes. I think by now we all now about the balmy weather in Santa Monica, but considering the speed at which the ice is melting in places like Greenland and the Arctic, it may not be too long before balmy Santa Monica floods as other posters have mentioned.
I used to visit the Outer Banks quite often when I lived in North Carolina, but now houses in parts of the Banks, are literally falling into the sea. The coastline is sinking for fuck's sake. Okay. Now give me a nice eye roll if you can't think of anything intelligent to say.
The New York Times is not a science journal and your trips to the Outer Banks is not evidence of climate change.
Trying to discuss this with you is like trying to reason with a Trump supporter. Oh wait....That's what we're doing.....I guess we should know better by now.
Climate change is a religion for you. I would no sooner discuss climate change with you than I would discuss earth being a sphere with a flat earther.
You never discuss climate change with anyone here. All you do is tell us that the weather is nice in Santa Monica.
One doesn't have to read the NYTImes to find the scientific research regarding climate change. as I see was just mentioned in the previous posts. It's just that the Times has a science section and it reports the latest evidence of climate change. I've read plenty of information regarding climate change in Scientific American, but that publication doesn't let me share free articles. I guess you view that as fake too. There are unlimited sources of evidence that the climate is changing due to human activity.
Plus, you can do your own DD if you don't like our sources, but for some reason, you aren't open minded, so you prefer to "believe what you want to believe and disregard the rest".
Why would any of us want climate change? That's insane. We are just willing to read actual scientific evidence and share our concerns for the younger generations that will have to deal with the impact of it. Of course, if all of your information, or should I say disinformation comes from sources like The Daily Mail, you're not going to learn a thing. Perhaps you could explain to the rest of us why you are so narrow minded concerning the evidence and impact of climate change? It's one thing to be a skeptic and another to simply refuse to read and discuss evidence.
About 25 years ago, I attended a lecture by a geologist who taught college. He showed us graphs that demonstrated evidence that the climate began to change fairly quickly at the start of the industrial revolution and the invention of the car.
When I was a teenager, my mom had a really cool T-bird with a 4 barrel carburetor, that got 7 mph. It was a fun car to drive, but it also helped pollute the air. We had no idea of the negative impact of cars like that in the 60s. That was back in the day when the New York City skyline was all fuzzy and difficult to view from my window. I grew up and lived very close to the city. So, as the evidence became more obvious, the US worked at reducing air pollution which was also influencing the climate. Sadly, it now appears as if we are losing the battle we started decades ago.
Why don't you give us some actual evidence instead of making false claims and telling us climate change is our religion. Religion is something that has no evidence to support it. There is plenty of evidence to support a changing climate related to human activity. For some reason, you just don't want to learn about it, so instead you give us eye rolls and remain in denial.
