Criminal hacker group claims to have Trump documents, asks for $42M in ransom

At most that would be some embarrassing crap, anything 100% criminal is unlikely because someone in the government would have acted on it just to save his/her own ass.

The documents came from lawyers associated with Trump. Not the government. There is no reason anyone in the government necessarily knows the secrets Trump tells his lawyers.

Lawyers do not record the criminal confessions of their clients into their notes, nor, presumably, would they record their own criminal acts in their notes.

Someone should have talked to Michael Cohen about that.

There's more to "dirty laundry" than "criminal confessions." Evidence of misconduct, whether legal or illegal could be abundant.

Or Don McGahn.

I think it's fair to say Trump only hires lawyers who record his criminal acts.

Well, the hackers have now eviedently been classified as "terrorists", so they better damn-well have the actual goods, because they are now most definitely fucked.

Here's the ransom notification. It seems to imply--if I'm reading this opening section correctly--a reference to Trump's infamous "pee" tape, perhaps?

We read the position of the authorities. Declare this an act of terrorism. Your position is your choice. This will not affect our work in any way. It's just that it can completely erase certain frames that we still observed. But now is not about that.

Firstly, the group released a sample of the stolen emails that mention Trump, but are "harmless" as they said.. just as proof they stole material.. so that is evidenced.
Secondly, why would this group be classified as a Terrorist organization? Well, one thing special about terrorist organizations is that it is ILLEGAL to negotiate with them or give them any ransom. Now why would anyone want to prevent them getting paid off.. and what does this say about the government's willingness to cover this up?

Also, the primary requirement of "terrorists" is that they target normal people, civilians, with violence. Here, they are targeting verified criminals with the dirty laundry of their own criminal actions. They do not check the boxes of terrorism.

Anyone who opposes or threatens the Trump Crime Family is "classified as a terrorist" in modern day Trumpistan. Hardly different from NK, China, Philippines, Saudi Arabia...

My point is that the result of this classification makes it impossible to cover up whatever they may have by simply paying them off. The interesting bit, to me, is that simply not throwing the label "terrorist" around provides loyalists this potential course of action... applying the label does nothing else. So why apply the label unless those applying the label specifically do not want the information covered up?
