DC comics: Beast Boy vs Vixen

I was always a Marvel fan, so I'm not as familiar with the DC universe, but something always bugged me. Why does Vixen seem so much cooler than Beast Boy? They have the same damn power. The only difference is that Beast Boy physically changes into various animals, while Vixen merely adopts the properties (strength, mass, wall-crawling, etc.) of various animals without changing her appearance.

Is it just that she has an interesting personality and isn't annoying?

Is it because Beast Boy is always green no matter what form he takes?

Or am I the only one who thinks that she is cooler?

Sounds like a pretty dumb power to me. How can you take "properties" of animals without taking their physical form? Where does the elphants strength come from if you don't hae elephant muscles and elephant bones? That's just silly.

The artists present her as an adult. Beast Boy is on the junior team of sidekicks and juveniles.

I don't see what special powers they really have, whether you take on their form or not.

Flight, I guess, but most superheroes can fly. Is the ability to extract nuts from a squirrel proof feeder often helpful in fighting crime?

I think another factor is that Vixen is actually effective in battle while BB seems to mostly screw up for comic relief.

As for the powers themselves, her powers are magic based, and if you think about it, are incredibly versatile if weak.
