Define 'Street Fighter' please

So much for West Side Story.

- - - Updated - - -

It can mean someone who does learn his fighting outside of a normal program, or that uses fights outside out of the normal programs to solve problems. The normal programs usually have rules and a gentlemen's agreement on when to start and end a fight, and the rules involved.

And a normal program will take steps to minimize the chance of serious harm. Sport fighting is dangerous enough as it is, street fighting is far more dangerous.
FUCKING HOW?!! The only person with an illegal weapon (as per Wensleydale Rules - 1904 edition) was Zimmerman! He had a gun, used a gun. That isn't included in MMA.

Banging your opponent's head into something hard certainly wouldn't be tolerated in MMA, either.

Yeah but knocking him on his ass when he tries to put you in a headlock means points in your favor. If he rolls so far onto his back that his shaven scalp gets a few little scrapes that just means he needs more training in how to roll properly.

Why are we talking about MMA, anyway? The thread topic is defining the term 'street fighter'. Do you think MMA fighters are street fighters? If not, what would you say is the difference?

Street fighting would just mean not fighting in a ring. Street fighting is all encompassing and you can bring any of the skills to bear in that fight, including MMA.

There may be exceptions to the rule...for example, what if the Granny up the road got sick of her troublesome neighbors to the point of making a habit of physically attacking them on the street with her walking stick....would she be categorized as a street fighter? I would say, probably not.
