does the US military need hovercrafts?

Everyone needs hovercrafts.
What they really need is hover boards like they had in Back to the Future. They're not much use in a fight, but all their enemies would quickly make peace and become the soldiers' friends so that they can borrow their hover boards.

They're useful in mixed terrain and shallow water. Our police department has at least one, that I've seen.

Want to get something heavy or armored quickly through a wetland or grassy swamp? Nothing does that like a hovercraft. If there is a solution to a potential problem, The US military wants to have that solution available at a moment's notice. I get that.
Got a lot of shallow water in Albuquerque, do you?

Our Sheriff's office has one for wetland/flood rescue.

My ex and I actually used to own a hovercraft manufacturing company. We had quite a few municipalities in the US and Canada buying them for rescues, especially on ice.
