Jews are not banned from the game. Away supporters are. Any jewish supporter of Villa is welcome to attend.

The ban is imposed by the police, and is due to lack of resources to handle a group of away supporters with a history of violence; Such bans are not uncommon in European football, which has a history of violent clashes between opposing groups of fans.

Personally, I think the decision by the police is a bad one, and that away fans should be permitted; But to spin their poor descision as a ban on Jews is unwarranted and untrue, and to imply that it is inspired by antisemitism is inflammatory and stupid.

Given the woeful state of the UK economy post-Brexit, and the insane austerity policies that followed, I am unsurprised that West Midlands Police feel incapable of handling the situation without extra funding, and this looks to me like a heavy-handed political move by the police to secure that funding.

Sure. But it's just a part of the tradition of the East End. Minorities go there because they're poor; The fascists decide to march through to put the minirities in their place; And the East Enders rise up in opposition to the fascists.

In 1936 it was Mosely's blackshirts vs the Jews; Today it's Farage's fuckwits vs the Muslims.

The East End is an interesting place; It has welcomed minorities for centuries, so you can find two Jewish bakeries on Brick Lane (both claiming to be the oldest bagel house in London, they are separated only by a modern donut shop), next to an Indian takeaway, opposite the HOKO Hong King Café, and just along the road from Lebanese, Syrian, and Bangladeshi restaurants.

Nobody there is worried about their neighbours. But they are united in their dislike for fascists, and have a long history of opposition to fascist incursions into their neighbourhood, and of being misrepresented as troublemakers by the press - particularly the Daily Mail - when they stand up against such provocations.

That is, first of all, logically wrong, but furthermore it is counterproductive. That's why Reform is ascendant in the UK and AfD in Germany.

There are virtually no similarities between Muslims of today and Jews of yesteryear.
