Everybody Outta the Pool! (or The More Things Change, the More They Stay the Same)

and the mental gymnastics required to convince themselves that there is nothing racial about this because if you simply swapped the skin color of the teens to whites the exact same scenario would have played out is frankly disturbing.

Well, except that white teenagers were there and they were pretty much ignored by the officer.

So I do agree about mental gymnastics being on display.

+ 1. Maybe. What?
I thought the parents who lived near the pool thought the kids were from other poorer neighborhoods due to the section 8 comment. A bunch of teenagers partying at a swimming pool is a recipe for babies. What I said has little to do with what actually happened, if the following and other things I've read are true:

“The subjects involved were a mixture of teens and adults who were trespassing not in a community pool but a private property pool regulated and maintained by this particular Home Owners Association,” the statement said. “Vandalism and active fighting was reported in the same area involving this group of teens and adults.”

The main point keeps getting missed. Black people who live in the development too nice for them invited other black people to their party. This private pool thingie is a herring, black I believe.

The HOA rules explicitly state who may use the private pool and that a POOL PARTY requires a reservation, payment, and limit of 20. The organizer announced her pool party without adhering to the rules. When the security guards tried to enforce the rules, the invitees took umbrage. Being black doesn't mean you can ignore the rules.

So blacks who live in an area where it is too nice for them to be living can't invite black schoolmates of their children to the community pool as part of their private party.

No racism here.
They can, but they should still follow the rules re number of people, noise levels etc.

Probably no racism, yes.

Back in the day, we'd get kicked out of pools when one or 2 of our friends invited us. They even re-wrote the pool rules to include the stipulation "1 guest per resident" because of it.

It had to do with loud, obnoxious assholes annoying community members who wanted to be able to use their pool in peace.

On another thread I was reading that on Saturday night, the ferals came back to this neighborhood and vandalized private property, stole a truck and vandalized dozens of cars.

And evidently got away with it.

My guess is that normal people in McKinney haven’t had enough yet.

nope, no racism

Its unanimous then.

No racism.

Where is a pig's eye when one wants one?

I belong to an HOA with a community pool and probably regularly break the rules. You know what seems to never happen though? the part where the cops show up, throw everyone on the ground and start brandishing weapons.

No, the rules aren't racist. However, the enforcement of those rules and the treatment of the violators clearly was - as was evident in the video. Not a lot of white folks on the ground after the incident. To what do we owe this discrepancy?

HOA rules are racist? Whodathunk.

Of course they are. That's why they changed the rules at the pools we partied at when I was younger. Instead of one resident bringing a bunch of friends, it was 1 per resident to keep us from partying there. The cops kicked us out of there even before the rules were changed!

It was totally racist, against the race of obnoxious ignorant assholes.

Biased video surveillance. :cheeky:

This looks like a really nice neighborhood. If I were in charge I'd take away the cop's HUGE ass SUVs and put 'em on bicycles. Take their guns. Keep a few guns and vehicles at the station in case there is ever any real emergency. You would see an attitude change overnight.

The best part of this whole video is at the 5 second mark when the cop tripped, fell, and rolled out of it. I was like...wait, you mean there is more to this video than this piece of gold?

Clearly he had a slight overdose of his prescription Hero Pills before taking this call.

You know what I'm thinking? Inter-department MMA tournament. Must make it to the semi-finals in order to keep your job. There are too many pussies in this country who think a gun and a badge is all they need to become badasses.

Again, this looked like a case of poor training of the police.
Like Gov.Knowles would say"I don't know,lets do the science".

I know the area.

It's a mixed race area.

The pool is private and part of the HOA.

The HOA requires that if you want a party on their premises, you have to sign up for it and get approval. There are all kinds of rules and legal responsibilities.

The pool is not part of that. You have to get separate permission to use the pool for a party.

I know because I once planned a party in an HOA right down the street from there.

The HOA allows its members to bring guests to the pool. Limit of two per member.

1) The HOA says they were unaware there was a party to be taking place on their property

2) The pool was not part of the original party. Some of the party members or party crashers (apparently it was advertised on Facebook, meaning anyone could show up), started jumping the fence and getting in the pool area. Members started passing their pool cards to their friends through the fences so they could get in. Some of the members took offense to this and an ugly argument got started that escalated. People ran to join, the security guard, overwhelmed, called the cops to break up the fight and rowdy partiers.

3) The cop asked the girl - you can see this in the video - to disperse 7 times. She did not.

4) Mother was asked why people at the party were breaking the HOA rules. She replied, "Everyone does it." As if that's a good reason to break rules yourself.

The cop was afraid of being overrun. He didn't pull his gun on the girl, he pulled it on the people rushing him to help her.

Could the cop have handled this better? You bet.

Should the kids have obeyed the cop? You bet.

So let me get this straight: we have multiple witnesses, including at least two african americans, who are on the record as saying the incident and cop's actions had nothing to do with racism. And yet the activists and "everything bad that happens to blacks is always racism" crowd insist this is racism. What gives?

Because it's the narrative über alles.

conflicting witness accounts?
